Guest guest
Hello Everyone, I just wanted to post a quick message about a consultation we had with a Nutritionist last week. After reviewing the list of supplements my son is on (Pro EFA, Pro EPA, Vit E, Probioctics, Multi Vit, Carnitine, Royal Jelly), she mentioned that on 's case (Verbal Apraxia, Low muscle tone), we were missing a few supplements, including the Choline that has been mentioned here several times, Co Enzime Q-10, a stronger multi Vit (Nu Thera) and a OTC drug called Piracetam, which she said is supposed to help with the muscle tone and to help the Left Hemisphere of the Brain to communicate with the Right, and that this particular medicine should improve a lot the drooling situation that we have and to help him coordinating the muscles of the face. I have ordered it, but it has not arrived yet. I am very excited about it and would like to know if anybody has tried it. If anyone has questions, please feel free to email me. Guest guest
I use piracetam with my 7 year old son. The first time I tried it, I didn't simultaneously use DMAE and choline, and saw no real benefit. Recently I tried again along with DMAE and phos-choline and it has made a definite difference. I have tried all of these - DMAE, phos-choline and piracetam alone previously, with little benefit. I use Nutrasal's high quality phos-choline, and give 4 caps/day (nutrasal.com). My son currently takes 4800 mg/day of piracetam (I will back off to 2400 mg/day after a while). These three supplements, when added to pycnogenol and grape seed extract, helped with attention issues a great deal, which was my goal. Piracetam reportedly helps with learning, attention and memory. I have not seen improvement in tone - the only thing that improves my son's tone is creatine. The periods of time when we hear " wow " (i.e., " wow, he just started doing this, this and this " ) from his OT are always during creatine supplementation, though I still give carnitine regularly since his levels are abnormally low. I have never heard anywhere else that coQ10 will help with low tone, though it is a very beneficial supplement (I give my son 200 mg/day). We get the piracetam powder from beyond-a-century.com; it is inexpensive, though it is a pain to have to load capsules yourself. You can get capsules for a reasonable price on ebay. > > Hello Everyone, > > I just wanted to post a quick message about a consultation we had > with a Nutritionist last week. > After reviewing the list of supplements my son is on (Pro EFA, Pro > EPA, Vit E, Probioctics, Multi Vit, Carnitine, Royal Jelly), she > mentioned that on 's case (Verbal Apraxia, Low muscle tone), > we were missing a few supplements, including the Choline that has > been mentioned here several times, Co Enzime Q-10, a stronger multi > Vit (Nu Thera) and a OTC drug called Piracetam, which she said is > supposed to help with the muscle tone and to help the Left > Hemisphere of the Brain to communicate with the Right, and that this > particular medicine should improve a lot the drooling situation that > we have and to help him coordinating the muscles of the face. Guest guest
I ordered the Piracetam capsules from piracetam.com, and they were about $17.00 for the capsules. I can't wait to receive them... I will keep everyone posted. ** His SLP noticed today that the drooling has reduced. maryebe <eberlein@...> wrote: I use piracetam with my 7 year old son.
