Guest guest
I wouldn't mind trying OmegaBrite, Edie, but we can't get it in Australia (they don't do foreigh orders) We are using Kirkman EPA-Pro, which is another high-EPA supp, as well as EyeQ, a British product that combines EPA fish oil with evening primrose and sunflower oil. (We ordered the Eye Q, but the shipment took so long I got impatient and ordered the Kirkman product. Wehn the Kirkman stuff runs out, we'll just use Eye Q) We are giving one cap of the Kirman and one tsp pf the Eye Q per day. A tsp of the eye Q has about half as much EPA as a cap of the EPA-Pro. Initially I gave two caps of the EPA-Pro and that was too much. Our little boy had a nightmare and woke up with a nose-bleed (EPA thins the blood). One cap of EPA-Pro plus 1 tsp of Eye Q is a good loading dose, I think. Eventually he will be on just one or two tsp of Eye Q. I don't know if we have seen any results yet. Callum is continuing to improve but he is on so many supps and is also having behavioural therapy. It can take up to 12 weeks to see improvements apparently, but there is increasing data to show that EPA helps autism, ADD, dyslexia, bipolar and related disorders. The Eye Q site (www.equazen.com) has some interesting stuff on it. I think evening primrose and EPA are a good combination. As we found the EPA is a blood thinner, so you need some omega 6s to balance it. My only caution would be not to overdo it, or you could have a very upset kid on your hands. Another parent posted a couple of weeks back to say that her kid also got nightmares from OmegaBrite. OmegaBrite is strong, so if it gives you problems you might want to switch to the Kirkman product or the Arctic EPA available through www.iherb.com. Or just give half a cap and swallow the rest yourself. Good luck Steve > > I didn't get much feedback on my question about OmegaBrite. Has anyone used > this product and would you recommend it? Guest guest
I tried OmegaBrite with my son. I think he was 4yo at the time, and non-verbal. He woke in the middle of the night with what seemed to be nightmares. I took it myself - just as a good way to get Omega- 3's w/o worrying about mercury in fish. It gave me a headache. I decided to stop using it, but will likely try again when my son has enough language to tell me how he's feeling. We're using Flax Oil in the meantime. --
Guest guest
Has anyone used OmegaBrite? I used to use Coromega but have to stop because I found out my son has a severe egg allergy. I am looking for something that is orange flavor that I can mix in his orange juice. The only one I have found so far is OmegaBrite Kidz. I am really bummed that Coromega has egg in it. My son is so picky and he would take that no problem in his oj.
Guest guest
You might want to avoid mixing fish oils with high salycilate foods like oranges, apples, tomatoes - most fruit and lots of veg are high salycilate (xcept bananas, mangoes, paw paws, peeled pears and pomegranates) and interfere with the absorption/conversion of fish oils. Just a thought. --------------------------------- Ahhh...imagining that irresistible " new car " smell? Check outnew cars at Autos.
Guest guest
I used OmegaBrite and got the big results. They have a guy on staff that is good to talk to for technical questions, too. We used the adult formula, not the one for kids, specifically to avoid the flavorings. The adult version has no flavor except, of course, a little fishiness, but that disappeared in the whole milk vanilla yogurt we mixed it in. > > Has anyone used OmegaBrite?
