Hey guys,

I just got home from taking my kids to MDA camp. this is their first time. They have been so excited to go. took off with his counselor the second I finished getting his stuff out of the car and I had to track him down to say good-bye. Kira was thrilled with her 2 college age counselors and they seemed to hit it off right away. As I left they were planning the first cabin raid on the boys. She had no trouble getting her stuff all set up and her g-Tube feeding pump and the girls were so good with asking her the questions rather than me. They knew all about what she needed and even asked her where her sunglasses she has to wear were! Krissy on the other hand was very scared. She has 3 counselors assigned to her. The girls were so sweet and were working really hard to try and make her feel comfortable, but she cried when I left and begged me to take her home. I left her there, but now I am really worried about her. They said she would adjust, that they had all kinds of fun stuff planned for tonight because it is the first night which is the hardest. I am just worried about her. She has not been away from me like this when I am in the hospital with the other 2 she stays with a family member or close friend. She is my one that has social adjustment issues anyway with the selective Mutism at an early age. I put all kinds of notes in her bag and even bought her a surprise cuddle friend that I packed in there without her knowing it. I hope it is enough for her. It is so quiet here! I don't have any meds to get or formula to mix or vomit to clean up! It is so strange. My hubby is at work, he works nights usually anyway, but it is so strange. They have never all 3 been gone at the same time! I keep telling myself that they are having the time of their lives right now, but I also have a nagging thing going on about Krissy! OK time for you other moms who have sent kids to camp to help me out here!

' counselor is a paramedic, I couldn't ask for a more qualified person for him, and they hit it off right off the bat. They got his stuff and booked off to do the guy thing. When I found them again he told me everything I would have told him so I was way impressed.

How do I relax guys? I took an extra blood pressure pill today knowing it was going to be a bit stressful! I guess I have issues when it comes to my kids! LOL It is so hard trusting their care to total strangers without me being there. I don't even do that in a hospital for crying out loud. I never have left them due to so many errors that have been life threatening. Anyway I guess say a little prayer for me and the kids that this will be a positive thing for us all.

Sorry for venting so long!

HUGS!

,

I feel for you, I just did the same, the camp here started on Sunday, the house seemed so EMPTY to me today, and I do have a baby!

I too am worried as I know I take care of DS best, I can look at him and know what is wrong. I had to go today and take more meds, and they assured me he was doing great, I didn't get to see him as they were off down by the lake, plus I didn't want to "intrude"

I just wanted to say your not alone, and I too am hoping to see some responses from other Moms who have been there and done that.

Hi,

I understand your worry. I use to worry when went off to Camp

Easter Seal. She had a ball. If something came up the camp director

called and I went to camp. If it could be fixed there we did; if not,

she came home. was not on tube feedings or oxygen but there were

other campers who were. One year went to camp two days after

coming home from the hospital. Her pediatric neurologist insisted that

I let her go. She was very pale when I left her there but rosy cheeked

when I picked her up.

How do you not worry? Stay busy. Do some of those things you always

wished you had time for.

Take care, Shelby
