Guest guest
Hi, I am sorry to jump in but I saw both of your posts & my dd has feeding issues too. I would love to talk to you both & pass any helpful info that I have as well as learn from you. Please email me off list (I don't want to clog the board with issues that are not relevant to this board) at yvette.yta@... & we can exchange phone #'s as well. I look forward to talking with you. Yvette Re: [ ] Oral motor Apraxia Hi Jeanne My son is 6 and still only eats soft pureed foods. I blend his dinner and basically it looks like soup. He doesn't chew food still, He's in eating therapy twice a week. He just started sucking thru a straw. Any ideas??? He had a lot of feeding issues as a baby and toddler still has some. he only eats a little at a time. he just is not a big eater.he was diagnosed with failure to thrive as a baby and toddler. he stayed on baby formula until 2 yrs old. he also stayed on baby food until almost 3 yrs old. i mean literally stage 2 mostly. but only a few 3rd ones due to if the food had any texture at all any chunks little pieces he would literally gag and start making choking noises. now he eats all table foods but sometime sit is struggle to get him to eat. he just doe snot like to eat in general. he has always been on the small side in both ht and wgt. currently he weighs 44.9 lbs . he is i am not sure exactly but he is often referred as about 3 or 4 by strangers. he is still in a high back booster seat with a lap shoulder belt . yes he is 2nd grade. my pediatrician actually told me to keep him in one.. i asked if he could ride in a regular seat belt. that is what he told me. he is too short and does not weigh enough to safely ride with out one. i get lots of comments on the boster seat thing. but i just reply that it is pediatrician recommended and that he is safer in an accident than there own child who is not in one.
