Guest guest
Hi!!! We are getting closer to getting our SSI finalized. We found out today we may make $36 too much a month. After all of that, $36 dollars is going to put us over the limit. He said some times they take other thing into concideration. They did ask us what kind of cars we have and if we still owe on them. And we do still make payments on both of them. I wonder if the concider what they withhold for out Insurace premiems count? They did ask me what out house payments are. Does anyone have any help. This is soooo frustrating. They have finally declared him disabled yet we may make too much. Any help would be great!!!! Tamara
Guest guest
We have gone through the same thing. Yes, they do take into account what you pay for insurance. I do not know for sure if they deduct for car payments, because cars are assets. I would think for $36 a month they will find something to get it under. Have you tried putting over the counter medications and copays into the mix, these can sometimes count. Eventually I gave up, for now, we are expecting another baby in Sept. so maybe then it may go through. How hard was it to get your son proven as disabled? We have not even gotten to that point yet, because they looked at financial first. I worry about them not looking at the whole picture for Grace. She does walk well and is developmentaly normal (exept speech), but she cannot even go outside if it is over 75 F until she gets a cooling vest. Also if she gets one virus it can set her back for months. Realisticly I do not know how she will ever be able to hold a job when I had to quit my job because day care was too much for her. I just hope SSI sees this. Best wishes.
Guest guest
We applied for SSI recently and were denied because my DH's income is too high. Didn't even get to the disability step. Don't know what we're to do since I can't work, I'm home with Sheldon. We're still hoping to get the medicaid waiver though. Hi!!! We are getting closer to getting our SSI finalized. Guest guest
Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this or done it personally? All I can say here is yesterday I wrote this long vent about this (then deleted it cause it was me on my soapbox) and that was one of my suggestions, as we have been told the same thing and have considered it, too, we even talked to a lawyer about it, but then we decided to just take another route DH quit work and he is now going to school (loans don't count), but our son is almost 18 (2.5 years to go) It sucks having no money but we will be better off in the end, so we live in poverty, we got into section 8 (our rent is 80 bucks), we don't get food stamps but I do get Medicaid and so does our other child, DH doesn't but he can go to the free clinic and the College's health center. I think it really boils down to can u live with it and is your marriage more to you than just a piece of paper, it is so sad for me to see this as an option, so much for our country's family values huh, LOL see why I stopped yesterday, this really pisses me off, why can't my sick child have medical care without it hurting (I am not going to get SS as I haven't worked enough, I could go on and on) me and the rest of our family. I would ask for sure but i know for sure here in Idaho (hi neighbor) if we were divorced I could get more state aid, the SSI you need to check with them, we get SSI but I can't remember what they said, and it is different for me as my DH is not my son's father. Guest guest
What a coincidence. This past week, Lily got dropped from Medicaid because we make too much money. And we weren't able to get SSI for the same reason. In WA state, you can't get SSI or medicaid if you make too much $, even if it's for a disability. After being sent to about 15 different agencies to try and get some help and answers, I got a lady who told me a personal experience of hers 'off the record.' (She could get fired for giving me advice.) She said that when her kid was a baby and she was in the same situation, her and her husband felt the only way was to get a divorce. They then remarried when her kid turned 18. (They then look at his own finances, not the parents.) I'm so desperate, that I'm actually thinking about it. If I quit my job, we probably would still make too much $ and we'd either lose our home or go bankrupt. My hubby says, it's only a piece of paper. True, but psychologically for me, I'm hesitant. This experience has only made us stronger and we will always be married in our own eyes, but I'm not sure... Has anyone ever heard of someone doing this or done it personally? Do you think it would help get any help? No agency in our state will give us ANY help. I hope that the rest of you who are having the same problems get assistance in your own states. I know that there are many who need it more than myself, but I think we all need help in our situations, maybe not neccessary financially, but definately medically. Thank you all.
