Guest guest
I have to admit those two weeks were weeks from hell. For those of you going through the same thing, be aware that it will cause havoc with your appetite and cravings. Carol....I do think this is some of my problem......I am wicked good for a few weeks, total control, feel like a normie.....then all of a sudden....FOOD.....and nothing but food for a week or so......I always brings me right back to where I was on the scale.......and emotionally I am SHOT! All the terrible feelings about all the wrong choices come back again!!! It is " power " and better to know what is wrong.....just wish I could figure out what to do about it........btw.......how old are you (was wondering about menopause and peri-meno...... P. Guest guest
Carol, You are not alone. This is pretty common reguarding cravings before your period. Here are some links you may find interesting. I think as WL patients, we tend to be more aware of everything to do with our bodies. http://www.dietwatch.com/dietwatch3/public/focus/hollering_hormones.html -I found this the most interesting http://www.eatrightct.org/0501meeting/springabstracts.html http://www.womenshealthmatters.ca/centres/diabetes/reproductive/menstruation ..html http://pages.ivillage.com/cambour/TEAFEMALEMENSES.html -this one mentions the changing of the stomac lining during menstration. Guest guest
Thanks Dawn and Carol........YES, I am playing very close attention......this week is my PMS week......I am a total basket case.....Nothing in the article was exactly " new " to me, but for some reason it really hit home this time.....maybe because I am in the midst of it. I have an incredible amount of outside stress at this time too.......it certainly doesn't help.......I started this A.M. with the eating......I am going to go an exercise as soon as I finish writing this.......both my girls are very sick so not sure how much I am going to get done. I had a question....I do believe in the give yourself the chocolate......do you think that as WLS people we should do the low-carb stuff or go for the real thing?? Thanks, P Re: Glad this is over! > Dawn, > > Thanks so much for the links and ...are you reading this? > Check out the link from Diet Watch. Guest guest
, My heart goes out to you. Just remember that once we know the problem we can apply some answers and strategies! I stay low-carb...it is a way of life for me now. I am 1.5 yrs post op and at goal yet still losing a pound here and there. I work out 3/4 times a week which includes a rigorous weight training session so I usually have trouble keeping up with calorie consumption just to maintain. I will tell you that without taking thought for the calorie issues, when these hormones have their party hats on I think it's important to becareful of the sweets or anything else that effects the blood sugar level! I think its a combination of eating properly yet satisfying the cravings with a SMALL piece of whatever you crave and continue to keep the carbs low so they don't create alot of insulin production. I learned the hard way last month so I am going to be wayyy careful of what triggers I am putting in my body that may " aid and abeit " the mood swings! Guest guest
Carol, I can't tell you what it is like to have a sympathetic ear in all this. Today I woke up hell bent that I was going to work out....then the phone rang.......that was it,......I spent the next 6 hours talking to suidical, homicidal people and the whole time I am trying to decide whether or not they are venting or serious.........I have to give myself a break and decide that sometimes I don't have a say in things.......this is really hard for me to do........thanks again!!!
