Guest guest
, It is so tragic....when the first one happened I had just walked in the house from taking my son to school. This time I was waiting for him to get back from getting his wisdom tooth pulled....My heart goes out to their family and friends...Neci
Guest guest
So sad. My prayers go out to the astronaut's families. We always remember where we were when we hear about these tragedies. I was in Costco, in front of the TV's with a gathering crowd of people, some tears, all staring in disbelief and sadness, some people talking about where they were when they heard about the Challenger disaster. It's amazing how we become one during times like this. in NJ
Guest guest
Seventeen years ago in 1986 when the Challenger disaster happened, I was a junior in high school and was home because it was during mid-terms. It's ironic that the dates are so close - 1/28 and 2/1. I live very close to Cape Kennedy Space Center and always watch the launches from our back yard and hear the sonic boom upon re-entry with the landings. We were sitting in a diner near our house this morning watching the clock and waiting for 9:16am to arrive (the scheduled time for landing). It came and went. The weather here was absolutely perfect so we couldn't figure out why there was no boom. Then someone from the military came in to eat and we overheard him telling the waitress that the Space Shuttle had been lost, but there were no details yet (this was maybe 9:30am). We were going to Disney World after breakfast to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday and we didn't want to disappoint the kids (who are way too young to understand what happened) so we decided to go anyway. It was so strange being there, where many people had no idea what had happened. I didn't realize that Disney was so " insulated " - no TV's, no radios, etc. The only sign that something was wrong was that by the time we got there at 11:30am, they were putting all the flags at half mast. Very, very sad. Very surreal to be in the happiest place on earth on such a sad day. ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comR http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune!
