Guest guest
Hi everyone. As i posted last time been having trouble with eatting. for about a week couldnt eat anything but soup. Anything that had any consistency caused pain and even dumping. I went to the Dr and he did upper GI series. he said all looked OK didnt see any blockage or strictures... He said it just appears something irritated my stomach. I am just on a full liquid right now he said to wait another week or so and i can try some soft foods again. Also to let the group know I am just over 4 weeks post op and down 40 lbs.. The jeans I had before surgery fall off with the slightest tug... Even with belt to the end they are still loose... I fit into a XL lounge pants today was SOOOOOOOO thrilled My questions to the group are 1. When were some of you able to finally say eat a childs happy meal. (burger and fries) or say a full Hot dog or slice of pizza.? I use to eat chicken ceaser wraps with lettuce and dressing and slice of provalone that i miss and cant wait till i can have again thats why i ask about eatting more then 3 mouth fulls 2. I was told the pouch will stretch a little to eventually accomadate more food. I was told eventually would be able to hold 6-8 oz easily. Can anyone tell me when they noticed that with them? 3. Drinks... PLEASE someone send me some ideas for different type drinks either recipe or store... I am so tired of crystal lite .... I have alsohad my fill of snapple... I drink my protien shakes every other day. I have not found one yet that i like and can drink every day. 4. I am also looking for some exercises i can start now to help with my arms.. I notice they are getting real FLABBY (upper arms).. I am not allowed to do anything abdominal for another 4-6 weeks... What do any of you do for the arms.... Happy Holidays to everyone here..........................Cori 11-17-03 305/265/135 Dr Toy Honesdale PA
Guest guest
Cori, yep me too. Sick of Crystal Light and Snapple. So I switched to decaf lemon tea. I love it, and went back to plain water. Much happier for now. I'm sorry you've had such a bad time. At least the Dr has ruled out any serious problem right now. And WOW, 40#. That is fantastic! I was told by the dietician that by one year I would be able to eat the equivalent of one enchilada. I haven't had any food problems, and the only restriction for me after a month is watch steaks, and white bread. I did have a very small piece of a piece of pizza. My husband said I took the good part! haha Had to eat out the other day, so I ordered a hot dog, tossed the bun, and ate about 3/4 of the small hot dog. Had to eat out again yesterday, so I got a small garden salad with fat free dressing. It tasted pretty good, but only ate a little. I got an iced tea too, and then realized I couldn't have it when I was eating. Ouch, the arms.....mine look terrible already. After the first week I was told I could do the stretches with exercise bands. They give you pretty good tension and you can use tons of different ways. I also use the exercise bike that also exercises the arms. My legs never hurt, but my arms sure do. I hope others have different suggestions for the arms. I want to do all I can. I can visualize myself thinner, in smaller clothes, but having to buy bigger clothes to accommodate my arms!! While on the subject of arms (and the tummy and thighs), does anyone have idea to work on these problem areas. I'm looking older already in the face. My fat used to plump lines out. My face has changed dramatically. I still prefer lines to fat, but would like to minimize it's affect if I can. Are there exercises good for under the chin? Do any creams, etc. help? Guest guest
Cori I am 3 1/2 months out and I cannot eat anything close to the size of a Happy Meal. Right now I can eat a meal about the size of 1/2 of a Lean Cuisine entree. Which is more than I could eat 2 months ago. But I still try to stick to about 4 oz per meal. Or my pouch can start to hurt. I think this happened at about 2 1/2 months. It is going to be a long while before you can eat a whole slice of pizza and forget about the burger and fries. Too much fat and carbs. Drinks...try fruit 2o, water, water, water,...juice cut with water (mix it 1/2 and 1/2) sugar free tang is good as well. You should be able to exercise your arms now. They sell resistance bands at Target that are excellent for the upper arms. They look like a piece of plastic pipe. Candi Some questions for post op's Hi everyone. Guest guest
Starlet, for me I had virtually no pain after the surgery. Of course, that was LAP. Open is a different process. Problems afterwards do happen, but of those that I know personally, none have had any problems. It's good to be aware of the problems that can occur, but whether you'll have any of these remains to be seen. I've stayed optimistic that if a problem occurs, I'll deal with it then. Meanwhile, enjoy what's happening to my body and my brain!
