Well, today is my one year anniversary. I've gone from sitting on a

bench in Paris sad and mad that I was physically unable to keep up

with my family to climbing Diamondhead in Hawaii with my son asking

for breaks. I've gone from not being able to climb the stairs to

the top of the Arche De Triumphe to climbing up bell towers in

Germany. I am now a fully active participant in my life, not

watching it from the sidelines.

Would I have the surgery again? If I could go back in time and not

change anything then I suppose I would. If I could make changes, I

would make a lot of them.

I wondered what I had done to myself immediately post op. One year

later I have my life back. I am NORMAL. I eat normal portions of

food. I walk at a normal pace. I have a normal stamina (not winded

after walking a block). I do a normal amount of exercise and I

understand that exercise is a part of normal life.

When I started this journey I weighed 255 pounds and wore a size

26. I now am 140 pounds and wear a size 6/8.

It's been a most amazing year.

Congratulations Kathy. I too just celebrated my one year and it has been

amazing. To be part of life and not sit it out, sounds like you have spent the

time well. God bless you and your family.

Hugs,

Pat B.

Congrats Kathy and best wishes for continued success.

If you are interested I'd give you the following advice:

1.. The second year is very important to your long range results. Stay close

to your support systems. Good primary medical care, regular physical

activity and 'as needed' nutritional and emotional support are critical

ingredients for long term success.

2. The second year is an important time to establish solid relapse prevention

skills and practice them until they become second nature. Do try to do that

and if you need help then get it. Good after care is just as important as

good surgery.

3. Never take your success for granted. Keep nurturing it and it will grow

stronger each year.

Happy Anniversary.

Hi Kathy.......and welcome!! We sound a lot alike. I started at 248 and a

size 24W..........BUT, I wish I was down to a 6. Unfortunately I am still

at the 12/14 range!! It is nice to be able to move and groove with my kids

too!!! P.
