Are you aware that Splenda has Clorine in it? That is what is used

to make Splenda.

What is splenda made of?

Splenda is derived from sugar through a patented, multi step process

that selectively substitutes three chlorine atoms for three hydrogen-

oxygen groups on the sugar molecule. The tightly bound chlorine atoms

create a molecular structure that is exceptionally stable and is

approximately 600 times sweeter than sugar. They say it does not cause

cancer, but it has properties that can do other damaging things to

our bodies.

However, we are also told that cholorine is really bad for us and

should not be being used any more as there is not need for it in the

modern world, with the exception of third world countries perhaps.

We are essentually told to try to eliminate sweet things from our

diets, because all they do it cause us to crave more sweet things.

Once you are away from sweet tastes, you will lose that sweet taste

need and be better off for it.

Thanks you for a great post. I agree that Splenda is harmful to our

bodies. Regardless of what the studies say, cholorine is still

clolorine and Splenda is an extremely processed chemical

derivative. Are the studies that say it's safe large scale studies?

What are the long term effects? The truth is, no one knows.

A far safer alternative to sucralose is STEVIA. It has been around a

long time. It is made from a plant fiber and is fantastic. It also

has a very large number of health benefits associated with it. (I

will be happy to re-post them if anyone is interested). I have had

no problems using this before or after surgery. Please give it a

try, I think you'll be pleasantly suprised!

I was fortunate to experience oral chlorine poisoning about 2 years

ago. Not deadly, but it did make me feel sick for several days as I

breathed the chlorine out of my body.

Yes, I am aware, and I discovered Stevia about 3 years ago because

other then saccrin,(sweet n low), I'm not comfortable with any

other. I do confess to only using small amounts of splenda on

occasion, but I don't feel it's enough to do any harm. This would

include the wonderful Blue Bunny brand yogurt. It's a much better

choice then aspartame stuff.

Thank goodness I did stop with the nutrasweet aka aspartame many

years ago though. It did cause me some horrible intestinal problems

and headaches with nausea after drinking sodas and other things

containing it.

they said its made from sugar, and that its is safe for us to eat. They said

that its not made with chlorine...
