Guest guest
Hey! I have not received any messages from the group since last night. Has that virus caused some problems or what? Bobbie Manchester, WA
Guest guest
OFF TOPIC But along those lines -- let me stress how important it is for ALL computer users to be sure you are using an anti-virus software protection program that is updated daily at least... some on-line software's like McAfee Clinic " force " updates to your computers so you have constant and the latest protection available to avoid the spread of virus/worms to end users, to your friends and to e-mail groups you participate in... IMO, using an unprotected computer is much like un-safe sex... you just don't engage in that activity at your own and your fellow users risk. I think Norton has a similar type program with forced downloads of the latest protection. My ISP alerted me last week to a virus that was sent to my e-mail from someone in one of these groups where I'm sure my e-mail ended up on their contact lists -- the e-mail never got as far as my computer but others do... those who aren't running a virus protection software not only harm yourselves but all of those you are in contact with via internet. hugz, ~denise ---- https://www.paypal.com/refer/pal=5ANS6MHB8RHCQ

I most heartily agree! I keep Norton going with daily love updates and a full system scan at least once a month whether I need it or not. I also use a firewall (Zone Alarm -- it's free) to keep other computers from being able to hack into mine. You have NO IDEA how many computers are pinging yours when you are on line. When I first installed Zone Alarm, I had it set to inform me any time another computer would try to communicate with mine without my permission -- I was getting 30 or more an hour, and had to disable the little alarm box just because it was so annoying. There is another freeware out there called AdAware, which keeps internet spam bots from trolling your system. A lot of the spam you get is related to websites you have gone to. Sometimes you can reach a website completely by accident, or while just cruising around, and it leaves a signal on your hard drive telling spambots to send you spam about all varieties of information. AdAware tells you where these signals are on your drive and lets you remove them. I get very little spam now. Oh, and I also have a pop-up killer which is indispensable -- I hate pop-ups on websites. Ok, there's your geek info for the day... back to topic! ~~ Lyn G

Guest guest
I do have the Norton Anti-virus, so I guess I am OK, and just by receiving these e-mails from you, I know there is no problem. Thanks So Much! Guest guest
And to add to that...I have spamnet (free) that runs in Windows Outlook and Outlook express. You can get it here: http://www.cloudmark.com/products/spamnet/download/ It sure sorts out most of the garbage! Guest guest
I was supposed to go to a Super Bowl Party...Hubby left for 2 weeks yesterday morning, and within an hour or so of his leaving, I had a raging stomach virus going on. I could barely get around to do my chores outside (at 19 degrees). The rest of the day, I spent in bed, snuggling with the dogs. What a way to start me 2 week project to lose 10 pounds! I don't think the 3000 mg of antibiotics my doctor has me on right now to kill the H. Pylori helped either, since I was taking them on an empty stomach (I tried 1/2 of a saltine about 6 PM. No go on it!) So, I didn't go to the party. The good news is, I won the 4th quarter in the Super Bowl pool. $200, and now new clothes for my Seattle Trip next month! I can do a lot with $200 at Wal-Mart. LOL It sure made me feel a lot better. By the way, the Previcid and antibiotics seem to be helping. I started taking them on Wed., and haven't had a single incident of GR or indigestion. Guest guest
I do a system scan daily for viruses. And I don't WAIT for Norton's to let me know there is an up date for virus definitions. It doesn't hurt to check, so I do it daily and when there are LOTS of viruses coming through I will check several times a day, just because Norton's is constantly working on new virus definitions. Guest guest
Hummm, good question. Since I am sure she will have a limited amount of time maybe we can all meet her somewhere that is easiest for her to get to. After all, we LIVE here and supposedly know our way around. Guest guest
Why don't we have a big meeting somewhere central-ish? Puyallup is only 45 minutes from me, Gig Harbor is a bit more than an hour... Who's volunteering their house? Mine's too small, or I would in a flash!
