Guest guest
Dear , In the beginning, you have to be extremely careful about the solids you are going to try because you want to get the best bang for your buck in the protein department. Cornbread is definitely not a good choice at this point. In fact, bread in general, should only be eaten toasted at this point and again, only after you've gotten in your protein. You need to get your protein up... Whatever I ate in the beginning laid on my chest like a rock. It takes a very long time to pass through the stoma and I felt it as it went down, every inch of the way. Try the softer solids first, like melted cheeses or bean items. Tuna is an excellent choice. Whatever you're eating should be extra moist and in very small proportions so it doesn't 'lump up' on you. Chili is an excellent choice also. If you want to try meat, try chopped meat. Chicken and steak are too dense right now for you. Have patience with the process. I know I went through the regret stage as well. For a very brief while I was sorry I had done this (that was when my food was laying on me, or when the mere smell of something had me nauseated). In time all of the foods you like will come back to you, but you've got to take it real slow and very easy. live each day like it's your last... love like you've never been hurt... Guest guest
Re: Breads. I was told I could have whole wheat bread. So far I've only had it toasted as they recommend. Started around 2 -1/2 weeks post-op. No problems at all. Joan lap RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282/248/
Guest guest
n, I too feel full most of the time. I have to set an alarm to remind me to eat and drink, or it doesn't get done. After years of eating, eating, eating, this is such a strange feeling to not really want food. When I eat everything tastes good, it's just getting me to remember to eat. Dumping is NOT fun. I've had it once, and really don't want to repeat it. To get enough liquid, I take my glass or water bottle wherever I go. In the house, I take it room to room, so it's always there. I sip, sip, sip constantly. I have an uncomfortable feeling if I drink large gulps. I figure if I keep setting alarms to remind me, eventually I'll remember on my own.
