TOO MANY COMPLIMENTS?

In some ways I can understand how people are overwhelmed with all of

the attention and compliments, because I'm getting a lot of this at

work! It seems like everyday several people are calling me " slim " or

saying, " You're looking petite!! " In some ways, I feel like " ENUFF

ALREADY!!!! " , but then I think back to an event my husband and I

attended shortly before my WLS decision. He had lost a lot of weight

cuz he had the WLS 8 years ago and kept most of it off. I had bought

a pretty new dress for this event and felt really good, even as heavy

as I was. Well, people who hadn't seen us in several months were

coming up to us and complimenting the heck out of my husband. All

that was said to me was " Hi " . I went home devastated. Well you know

what? I think I'd rather have the compliments!!!

My feeling is that when people compliment us, we should just be very

proud of ourselves, say Thank you so much!!! If you feel

uncomfortable, change the subject really fast. Look what we have all

gone through folks!! We all know EVERY fat name in the book, am I not

right here? We have essentially risked our lives to get this weight

off for good. Let's just enjoy ourselves! WE DESERVE IT!!

Lori,

I've been getting a lot of compliments lately and I've found it

really hard to accept them graciously. I feel like people are seeing

me differently than I see myself. I'm trying to be better and just

give a big " Thank You " instead. I'm just not used to it.
