Guest guest
With head back and mouth opened wide she screams....HELP!! Just for about 2 seconds I thought things were finally turning my way. Maybe even for 3 seconds.... We've been having serious financial problems and contacted our bank to see about getting a debt consilidation loan. The loan officer sounded like it would be a piece of cake. Well guess what...the cake was crap! Go figure, with me out of work we don't have enough income to qualify for the loan! Duh...like we don't need it more than ever....specially since I am out of work??!! And then, the day before I lost my job I had taken my dog Peaches to the vet with a bum leg. He told me it could be many things but would cost $160 to xray and evaluate...anesthesia and a day in the doggie hospital. I then lost my job and had to put the dog on the back burner (not literally!) She's been limping badly and I've been medicating her with baby aspirin. Well it's obvious that she's in a great deal of pain so I called DH at work to see if we could borrow money from his brother. He said yes and to take her to the vet. Here's where it gets bad. She still needs the xrays, her leg has atrophied so badly she will never be able t walk on it, she's in a great deal of pain and just short of trying to chew her leg off. She's been licking it for days and the vet says if she gets a sore on it..it's all over. Best case scenario....she gets her leg amputated. Worst case.....it's a cancer and we have to put her down. Now I know in my head that as doggie parents this is something I should be able to do for a creature I love so much.....but I just don't know if I can take it! In the great scheme of things, what is a dog's life worth? To me it's worth so much. She gives me unconditional love. She doesn't care if I'm fat or thin. When I'm happy, she's happy. When I'm sad, she either cuddles with me or turns into clown dog. Anyhow....nothing anyone can do....just needed to share with people who care and understand. Guest guest
Lola, Get thee to the vet, get a referal to a clinic that will do the work either real cheap or they'll do it and let ya make payments..... Don't let that dog suffer...Will the vet not do it and bill ya? If he won't and the dog is really suffering then I'd think about changing vets. So sorry you're having a hard time right now, hang in there....Isn't it funny how when we were fat we thought being thin would make everything okay? Well the same life problems as before.. aint it shocking. Randy rlogle@... www.geocities.com/rogle32/ AIM: rlogleeln Open RNY: Sept. 26, 2001: 202 lbs gone. Daddy to Doogun, Jasper, and Zoe. And, hey, my dog's never hurt my feelings the way my kids do ! My heart goes out to you. Don't have any words of wisdom, just know someone else out here does truly understand. Please ask you vet if he'd allow you to post date checks to pay for Peaches needs...not at all uncommon in most vet practices. Lots of people can't afford unexpected vet care for their pets, and in my experience, most vets WILL work with their clients. If your vet is opposed, go to another one. I promise this is done ALL the time...most people don't have pet insurance. I understand your anguish...I have 3 little fur-kids (no 2 legged kind), and they are like my children (tho I don't dress them, and won't send them to college!)...I don't know what I'd do without them..they are my heart.
