" The ENT gave me Afrin. "

Sandy,

Watch out, Afrin can be addictive. At least it

was for me about 15 yrs ago (maybe they've

improved it since?). It was infamous for clearing

out your nose very well. The problem was that

people were using it a little bit too often and

what happened was the nose would react and get

even more congested,...so it turned into a

neverending cycle. it was tough to get off that

stuff. i won't ever touch that stuff again.

darned square of chocolate once in a blue moon, it's really my bizniz and no

one elses. But it still FEELS wrong and I suffer agonies of guilt -- whether

Has anyone been freed from this guilt. Sometimes I think I have, then whoops

it comes back again.

I gave my kidss two items a week from the market, could be a bag of Oreos,

My mom hid candy.

So?

I wanted potatoes. But only with meals. I don't know if *I* never wanted

snacks or I was convinced they were evil. In any case, I never missed 'em.

I hid food from my kids to save for treats--for them. But not hoarding. I

hoard other stuff. Socks, for example. LOL!

I don't think we had the $$$ for 2 per week. But I know I called raisins

" candy " to make it more fun. They SAVORED raisins. Of course, I can't eat

them today because they ARE candy. LOL! Bur back in the 70's, I just was

trying so hard not to let them develop a sweet tooth. Which is odd since I

didn't have one myself.

My mother hated raisins. So did I. But I wanted my kids to think they were

special. And so they do. And one made it his personal campaign one summer

to conquer my food dislikes. He was 15. He got me to like broc, raisins &

pineapple. He did not succeed with cauliflower or coconut.

Great, raisins & pineapple are high in sugar. Broc is high in oxalates AND

as much as I love it, it doesn't totally agree with my pouch. Little brat.

Got me hooked on stuff I can't have. LOL!

I doubt it. I would compare it to a child who knows he/she is doing something

wrong (defined as not approved by his parents or other authorities he

respects)-then conceals his/her actions and proceeds anyway. We may all be

children in this respect.

Maybe if we redefine WRONG. How about if we blatantly give ourselves permission

to eat that one square of chocolate, then move on. It sure helps to feed that

craving monster just a taste so it doesn't loom ever powerful to get us to eat

the whole bar. Once we give ourselves permission, it is no longer wrong-or

taboo. Then, concentrate on moderation.

Does any of this make sense to anyone out there?? It is 5:30AM-usually my best

time for mental activity!
