JULY 2007

Dear Theresa,

School's out, pools are open and the heat is on! Whatever your plans this

summer - pool parties or beach picnics - always remember to play it safe.

Kids are especially at risk since they're out of school, and engaging in

more outdoor sports and play. Thousands of children will land in emergency

rooms this summer from water sports and other outdoor related activities.

So keep kids, your loved ones and yourself safe by brushing up on basic

summer safety tips.

Don't take a vacation from safety - for kids' sake, and for your own.

Warm Regards,

Kathleen Loehr

Senior Vice President

American Red Cross

Families and individuals across the Midwest are attempting to recover after

deadly floods swept through these past three weeks and submerged entire

towns. Red Cross workers were among the first to respond. They remain on the

scene helping these victims recover. It's an enormous effort with

preliminary estimates totaling over $9 million. Your voluntary donation

enables us to provide lifesaving food, water, shelter and essentials to

sustain disaster relief and recovery.
