Guest guest
My question is why are you unable to wipe yourself after surgery? Does it pull on sutures, does it just hurt too darned much to reach behind, is this possibly just needed for those who were having trouble wiping before surgery and it got more difficult after surgery, and finally, is this problem exclusive to open RNY or do Lap patients have this problem, too? Kariann- My surgery was open, and I was 26. I was mortified when I realized I needed help with cleaning up--to say the least. I don't know what the experience is with lap, I've heard it was less painful (because the incisions are smaller and in different places on the tummy), but my body would just NOT move around enough to do what needed to be done. It felt like I was going to tear the incision or just hurt too bad. However, after I left the hospital I made myself figure something out on how to reach back there because I just could not ask my mom to help me with that. (I believe she has done her time..hehe) I just had my gallbladder taken out last Monday, and although its not quite the same, the pain was bearable and I had no such problems (of course I was 120lbs lighter, but still....) Hope this helps! Chrissy OpenRNY 02/19/03 310/
