Guest guest
Hi Gang, I'm 17 months post op open RNY. I've been doing well, down to goal, feel great, etc. I have a problem I haven't read about yet. I was wondering if anyone experiences stomach growls, gurgles, rumbly tummy? I don't have any pain, but in addition to the sound there is a rumbly feeling that goes along with the growling. I'm not experiencing any gastric reflux. I am, of course, worried about staple line interruption! Could this growling be due to stomach acid from my long-inactive " other " stomach bubbling up? Please share your expertise. Thanks. -Janet from Northern California Dr. Meyerowitz- open RNY 8/8/01 337/139 (LBL scheduled 2/28/03) Janet Molinari Program Administrator Housestaff Training Program Department of Anesthesia & Perioperative Care University of California San Francisco Box 0427 San Francisco, CA 94143-0427 Fax anesthesia.ucsf.edu > ---------- > From: marilyn > Sent: Wednesday, January 22, 2003 8:48 AM > To: Graduate-OSSG > Subject: Re: Hi, I am having a pain and I need opinions ... > > Hi, Donna, can you push it in? Guest guest
OH YEAH, very noisy here! Even the DOGS will stop and LOOK at me funny if they are sitting on my lap. Things get REALLY noisy if I eat something I shouldn't......like anything that is CARBS! Guest guest
I too have rumbly stomach. IT happens more when I eat things that I should not eat. Example...cheese..fine...peanut butter on low carb bread...rumbling. Proteins never make my stomach rumble. Salads will occasionally as will fruits, and carbs ALWAYS make me rumble. I'm sure that there is a reason why, but you got me as to what it is! > > OH YEAH, very noisy here! Even the DOGS will stop and LOOK at me funny > if they are sitting on my lap. Guest guest
Janet, It's quite simple. It's from drinking liquid too fast. Air gets in there and you get your rumble. I've had it all along. My surgeon reminded me to sip but I guess I don't. It can be really embarrassing going to a meeting or something and it grumbles as you speak. I used to apologize but not anymore. People aren't sure what they are hearing...lol. Dawn

But, when I tried a new protein shake, that was a different story! No pain, no yuck, just a rock-n-roll concert in the tummy! Guest guest
I've had this since my surgery... To me, having grown up in NY, it sounds like a flock of pigeons! We just joke about it ( " oh, the pigeons are back! " ) It happens more with liquids.. and really I think it is just the sound of peristalsis and liquids passing through the stoma, at least for me! Deb ^et. ^ I was wondering if anyone experiences stomach growls, gurgles, ^rumbly tummy?
