Guest guest
Dear Stef, I'm 5'9 and large boned as well. It sounds to me like your doctor (if it's his goal weight for you) is basing this number on the Metropolitan Life Insurance charts. Those weights are outmoded and unrealistic. My doctor and I agree that 165 (my goal) is extremely reasonable, but I too would be grateful for anything under 200 at this point. I've only seen that number once on my way up... up... up... live each day like it's your last... love like you've never been hurt... Guest guest
Stef, The 29th will be here before you know. To me it sounds low, also depends on your age. I'm 5'5 " , and wanted 130#, but I lost it all in 1989 and when I got to 140# everyone said to stop. I was in size 10, less than in high school, so I stopped. I think I'll have to wait until I get closer to a goal to determine what I want to be. A friend who had the surgery last Dec. was told 2 different goal weights. If I remember correctly, I think it was 20# different. For me the liquid diet the day before surgery, was clear liquids only. Tea, clear juice, water, coffee, Gatorade, sugar free Jello, juice popsicles w/o sugar added, and strained soups (broths). This was the same diet I had in the hospital and to stay on for 1 week after the surgery. I am 5'10 " my goal weight has been set at 149, does this seem ridiculous to you? When you are on the liquid diet, do you drink liquid meals and drink 64 oz of liquid? Thanks for the input.
