a rough night

Just checking in. I'm fine physically, just working to get my 100

grams of protein in before the night is out. However, I feel so

weighed down by depression and I just hoped that by mentioning that

to all of you, I might feel a release. I have to remember with my

logical mind that this is chemical and partly as a result of the

surgery and all the complexities of anesthesia, etc. But it really

sucks right now.

Thanks for listening.

Hi , I sure hope your depression eases up soon. I was bad for like 3

months before I felt normal again. It will get better though sweetie, I

guarantee it :)

, Sorry you're down right now. I've been on Depression medication

since 1987. I really know how it feels because I've gone off of it, and

then have to go back on. It's a terrible place to be, and hard to pull

yourself out of that fog. Keep posting, and get all the feedback you can.

One thing I do to help myself, and it's reallydifficult to force yourself

to, is to get up, shower, pamper yourself, do the whole works, make-up, etc.

Do this even if you're going to working in the yard. For me, if made me

feel better about myself. It's hard at first, but soon becomes routine.

Also helped me to tell my family how I feeling, and I needed caring, and

patience. It goes a long ways!

Robin,

You have NO IDEA how much that helps me. I am so relieved. I'm

sure tomorrow I'll be looking for someone to reiterate it, yet

again, but for tonight...THANK YOU.

Joan,

Thank you for your supportive email. It's hard to fathom putting

make up on again, I seemed to stop wearing it way before surgery,

just felt there was no point and now...I still feel that way!

However, I am listening to what you're saying and know there's such

truth to it. Acting as if...that old practice. Thanks again.

Hmm, that's a good thought. BUt I've heard the number 100grams at

the support groups and we're all patients of the same doc.

Interesting.

, when a therapist suggested to me to dress nicely and put on make-up

every a.m. I was really depressed. It is very tough when feeling like that.

I had to leave stuff out on the counter, and literally force myself. As

time went on, I began to feel better and better. I even found myself

putting on earrings when all I was going to do was clean house. It helped

so much, and when someone would drop by I felt great, instead of wanting to

jump in bed and pull the covers over my head. If I needed to run somewhere,

I was already presentable, and it was great. But starting is really hard,

and you have to work at it and make it a habit. I'm not a vain person at

all, but doing this for myself felt good.

on the other hand for those of us who rarely wear make-up .... keep your

mustache waxed, your hair and teeth brushed ... ( leg shaving is optional at our

house , especially in the Winter ) ,.... and wear only the those cloths and

shoes that make you feel like a million bucks.......which, for me means wearing

my black Swede comfy VANS, jeans and a back turtle neck in tee shirt material.

We are all so different and while I am teasing here a bit ... for me, who

suffered a severe bout with depression after my car accident ... just doing the

basics like getting out of my robe and slippers every day ... this was a huge

step up for me at the time.

So, where ever you are in this process, ..... " depression " .... if you kick it

in the heini every day with these seemingly baby steps, it tends to lose its

grip on you. Anyway, that was my experience.

Today, I'm still wearing my Black Vans, jeans, and turtle neck, all in

smaller sizes mind you ... and sometimes, sometimes when Im feeling impish .. I

might even add ... lipstick.

Mandy, you really have a good sense of how get through this journey. I

rarely wore make-up, and even now make-up is lipstick or gloss, and a little

eyeliner. Previously if I was staying home for the day, I'd dress in awful

clothes, holes, paint, etc. By dressing up, I guess it's about the same as

you. Dressing up for me is no holes in my pants!!! haha What a statement.
