Guest guest
Good Morning From Dr. Weil -- Why You Need Water --------------------------------------------------------------------------- 01.20.2003 Tip: Why You Need Water You hear it everywhere: Drink more water -- it's good for you. But do you know why? In a nutshell: Water helps your kidneys filter blood -- one of the most important activities your body performs for self-healing. This purification system can operate efficiently only if the volume of flowing water is sufficient to carry away the waste. How much water should you drink? Most experts recommend eight glasses (two quarts, or almost two liters) per day. Since many people find it difficult to consume that much water, they should just try to get at least six to eight glasses of fluids that are mostly water, such as hot or iced caffeine-free teas, mineral water, or sparkling water mixed with a little fruit juice. Sorry, sodas and coffee don’t count, and the caffeine in them actually promotes water loss. -------------------------The above excerpt is from my daily e-letter by Dr. Weil Carol A
