Debby,

The word is adrenarche (a-dren-ark-ee). And it sounds like Adam is

starting it. Your doctor will need to run some blood tests to see

what his LHRH levels are and some other hormone levels that I cannot

remember. Darn! Email Salem and ask her, okay?

Yes, he should also do a bone age. You want to know if his bone age

is catching up to his chronological age. You do not want that to

happen because if it passes his chron. age, then you will have less

time for him to grow.

Yes, there is another medication besides Lupron for supressing it.

It is called Arimidex. It is not made for this purpose, though. It

is a breast cancer drug. Not all doctors will use it because of

this. Dr. H., as you know, does not care and prescribes it and

assures us that it is safe. The advantage of Arimidex is that it is

a pill that is taken every night.

Wait - we are talking about two different things here. For

stopping/supressing adrenarche, she uses Arimidex. For supressing

puberty, she uses either Lupron or Zoladex. Lupron is an IM

injection every 28 days. Zoladex is a pellet that is inserted just

under the skin in the abdominal area. That is given about every 86

days.

Let me know if I can help you further. You can always email me

privately.

Jodi

Thanks a ton for the information. I do know that I need to stop this, he's

just way to small to start. He was *just* telling me a couple of weeks ago

(I thought it was cute) that he NEVER wants hair " down there " . He'd stay a

kid for ever instead!

I never thought about coverage for the expense. I sure do hope my insurance

is up to it along with the GHT. I should talk to Gail and see what she did.

thanks again, I appreciate your support.
