Dark circles.

For months I have had dark circles under my eyes, not just in the

morning but all day. Yesterday I asked someone and they said it is

most likely related to diet...Anyone know (Michele) what vitamin or

nutrient could cause this? Honestly I don't eat very well, but I do

take vitamins daily: multi, calcuim, potassium, stress-B, zinc, dry

A&D, dry E and iron w/ C. I also take 30g of protein at least once a

day, usually 2x - do I need more? Am I missing something?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Regards, Val

Val:

Dark circles under the eyes are usually " vascularization, " tiny blood

vessels under the skin. Maybe if you're thinner, yours are just showing up

some more. I've got them, and realize that they're genetic. I don't think

it's a nutrition thing. Also, for some reason they show up more if you're

having allergies....they call them allergic shiners. I don't know how

allergies could make them worse, but it's what I was told.

It could be something that you are eating, versus something you are

missing. It is pretty common for children with milk allergies (like

ot the actual whey protein, not lactose intolerant children) get

those dark circles under their eyes. My son was one of them. We took

away the allergen (all foods/ drinks with whey protein), and the

circles went away.

I'm not saying that you are allergic to whey, it may be something

else. This is just a tidbit that I know.

Val,

My 3yo daughter and I both had terrible dark circles under our eyes

until we eliminated foods to which we were allergic. In Joanne's case,

it was ALL dairy products, and for me, it was all soy products. In both

cases, within two weeks of not eating the offender, the dark circles

were gone. We tried everything else, the elimination diet was the last

resort. But it worked. If we slip up, the circles are back within a day

and take several days of being " back on the wagon " to clear up again.
