Guest guest
Hi, Sharon, congratulations on reaching the 100-pound mark!! It feels great, doesn't it? Wondering if you did anything in particular to get off the long plateau. Good luck to you on losing the rest of the pounds that you want to lose. marilyn " serenitywon " wrote: > Hello Everyone, > > Wanted to share some good news.. It's hard to be so far out of profile from most post WLS patients, and it helps to know there are others like me. Not much about my post op experience has been typical so I'm hoping the " window of opportunity " business does not hold true either. I did not dump at all for the first 6 to 8 months post op, but I've been seriously low carbing it since then. I've found that now I DO dump seriously from sugar. For the first 6 months or so I felt so betrayed, depressed because I wasn't losing weight like everyone else, I was throwing up, having chronic diarrhea, feeling exhausted, my hair and nails falling off, yet the weight hanging on and the surgeon acting as if any problems could only be caused by ME and my " non compliant " behavior. Slowly I learned that being angry, worried or depressed was not going to change anything, my surgeon was not going to help me in any way, and I've learned to cope with the help of a great PCP and a couple of support groups. My labs are not bad, but not great either. I'm taking my supplements with mixed results. My B-12 remains low despite monthly injections and daily sublinguals. My hemoglobin keeps slipping, my blood pressure is very low and I've had a couple of very scary episodes of what must be hypoglycemia following exercise. My hair has grown back in and seems to be healthy, but I'm wearing it short. I had to quit wearing acrylic nails because they became too painful to wear a few months after surgery. I've had them off for a full nine months and my nails are still so soft and weak they literally crumble and break when they hit anything. I bought the OPI Nail Envy that someone else mentioned, but no improvement. B
