First let me apologize for all the questions. But I am unable to make it to

my support group meetings due to timing mix ups! So you wonderful guys and gals

are all I have for now! :o)

As most should know I am 2 weeks post op now. I am on soft solids (tuna,

cheese, tators, pudding, peanut butter, refried beans etc). I have been having

trouble for the last couple of days with being light headed like when I stand up

and stuff. I am getting in at least 60 ounces of water a day..some times as

much as 80 ounces. When my hubby comes home I am gonna get him to check my blood

sugar (he is diabetic so he has the machine I just don't know how to work

it)..But I was curious has anyone had any trouble like this. I hate to call the

drs office over every little thing so i figured I would come to you guys first.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like your problem has more to do with your blood pressure dropping

since you get dizzy when you stand up rather than low blood sugar. The most

common cause is dehydration. Its definitely something you should get checked

out

with your primary care doctor or your surgeon because it could get worse and

you could actually pass out (and thus fall and hurt yourself).

Hi Crystal,

I cannot speak to the diabetic end of this question but know, that as we

limit the amounts of fuel intake so too, we invariably limit that amounts of

salt

and water we consume. When this occurs, the blood pressure is lowered and

causes this light-headed effect. This is especially true during the heavy detox

stages of our " liquids only weeks " . Some people even black out.

Thats why you should make it a point to get up slowly whenever you are rising

from a sitting or prone position.

Also .... potassium and protein deficiency can cause sever irregularities in

the heart rhythm. Too, the rapid burning of fat that occurs when the body is

deprived of carbohydrates can lead to a build-up of byproducts called ketone,

which in turn, can interfere with elimination of uric acid, triggering a

painful attack in those who suffer from gout Any rapid weight loss program

also

poses a risk of gallstones. Other potential side effects of quick weight loss

include .. constipation, dry skin, and menstrual irregularities.

All things you should be aware of .... all things that are associated with

rapid weight loss..... hope this helps ...
