Guest guest
Kris, I have an HMO, so that doesn't help you. I do have a friend that had the surgery 11/6, who has Blue Shield PPO. She said she had to pay 10% of the cost. She said the cost was $19,000. I asked her if this included the doctor, but she doesn't know. She said she hasn't received a bill from them. Every hospital I know includes the meals. The only thing that I know you must pay is your long distance calls. Joan C, Calif. LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282/257/140 Insurance out-of-pocket costs - BCBS of CA PPO I have a general question about insurance coverage. I’ve never had an operation except for when I was 12. I’m not used to hospital bills. Are there typical things that are never covered, like phone charges and meals, etc? I don’t want to use my cell phone in the hospital b/c I know it interferes with the machines. So I just want to prepare myself for phone bills, etc. Also, for anyone who used BCBS of California PPO plan, what was the cost involved in your lap surgery? I’m also having my gall bladder removed so I’m sure that will add to the cost quite a bit. Thanks!
