Guest guest
Hi Becky: I don't know who her surgeon was at BTC Michigan, but all the information that BTC gives their post-opers specifically says NOT to drink with your meals as this doesn't allow much room for your protein and it can wash the food through your pouch faster. I also had my surgery done at BTC in Ypsilanti, so I am speaking from personal experience about them. Maybe she misunderstood what they told her. Also, after my surgery they didn't send me home with a donut, so I don't think that this is something they do on a regular basis. Tell her to make sure she is getting in her liquids everyday as this will help with the constipation problem. She may also want to consider taking a soft gel each day to help keep things flowing (this is what I do and it works great for me). I'm sorry she is facing another surgery, but I personally feel she is in good hands with BTC. I would definitely have her call one of the nutritionists there and talk to them about the drinking with meals thing. Anyone I know who has had their surgery done at any BTC was told not to ever drink with their meals. Jerri in MI open RNY - August 15, 2001 Dr. Neil mor/BTC, Yps. 410/230/?
