Guest guest
Very well said Sue. Teaching residents and especially mingling over the years with hundreds of docs at a time at pharmaceutical dinners has opened my eyes. It has been shocking to tell you the truth, both about some docs motives and what some docs really think about their female patients. Its like any other professon. Some have true calling. Others are there for " other " reasons. Some are there for no good reason. all best ceep In a message dated 1/13/03 11:44:25 PM, Graduate-OSSG writes: << Message: 24 Date: Mon, 13 Jan 2003 21:37:18 -0900 Subject: Re: Digest Number 1931 Hi everyone, I agree. Just because some doctors can perform the surgery doesn't mean they are the best patient educators. There is a lot of money to be made in " them thar fat rolls " and I would bet my next paycheck that there are more than just a few doctors who find that to be THE motivating factor for doing the surgeries. Let's get real: doctor's aren't gods, and they are/can be tempted by profit. It is our responsibility to read, research, and read some more. Then ask questions and don't stop until you get answers. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. This surgery is HARD WORK for us, and will be forever. The problems don't go away-we just arm ourselves with a few useful weapons to combat them. AND, if we are smart, we lean a little on each other for support. Night all. Sue D. in AK >>
