Donna, I agree that there are tons of posts in this group...But I also think

that the chit chat IS important to some... I love to laugh and this group

keeps me on my toes...

I agree with Roy too..... we did have another site just for RP information

and maybe it's time that we check into this again...It just didn't seem to

work out the first time..

I belonged to another support group (not for RP) and there were SO many

restrictions that it was silly... it also was depressing... All you ever

heard was about the disease and never got your mind on anything else...That

kind of group is not for me.

Maybe we could put in the subject line " not rp related " or something to that

effect and those who don't want to read it can delete it..

I've always been happy with the way the group is (probably because I'm the

blabber mouth)LOL and I too would like to get the catalog.

hugs

Hi :

I think that your idea of labeling is a good one. I don't have time to read everything and at the same time I don't want to delete posts that are intended for the whole group. I too like to laugh and play and even enjoy the jokes. It is easy to identify the jokes by the title some of the time so I skip them and go back later when I have time to read them. I think you make a good point in addressing the need for a site that is not so sterile that your restricted, so labeling could be a way to meet everyone needs.

Thanks for the in put

Donna

Roy, I've been saying there has to be a better way for a while. I've been

part of the group for a little over a year and I have been overwhelmed with

the amount of mail. I'm trying to keep up with it, but it's a full time job

and then some. I've asked Heidi to put me on Digest, but I'm not sure that

is a solution. I know if I miss a day online, that I'll be catching up for

days. There is just no way to deal with this amount of mail and do other

things (like eat) actually do other things like teach a class (which I am

trying to do, but I get so behind on my messages and then it becomes a choice

of deleting hundreds of messages, or spending a week or more trying to catch

up. Any solutions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Judy Ostry

Donna, I agree. As much as I try, I can't keep up with the mail and have a

life too. I don't pretend to know what the solution is, but I know it is a

problem. Judy

I believe that all of us basically want the same thing. A safe place to vent stress and share information regarding the RP. I don't really have any solutions but I think as a group, getting input and ideas from group members will allow us to find a solution that will meet all of our needs. It was suggested, that we could label the post as regarding the content of the post.

I also want to everyone to know that I am in no way trying to point fingers at anybody I just would like us to find a way to meet all of our needs. I think that we should toss some ideas around and come to some sort of agreement.

So far the suggestions that I have read were to: 1) label posts

2) send personal messages that don't include group to personal E-mail address

3) Condense posts so they address more that one response

This is just a suggestion, and I do it as much as the next person but we need to quit the "one liners." Sometimes there is 10 messages from the same person for each individual person, they could be compressed into one message. I also love to read all my messages to stay in touch for support but it is overwhelming...Love as always. Sue

  • 1 year later...

I will be in the boynton beach area of florida for two weeks and wanted to know

if there are any support groups that meet regularly in that area? also if they

are doctor/patient groups or could I crash for a meeting?

Hi ,

Thanks for asking! The group went well. It was so fun to meet people I'd

been talking or emailing with and to see them " on the right path " , so to

speak! There were 2 other families besides and I. The next one is Sat.

26th at 1 pm at Borders in Fairfax. It was great to share our stories. I'd

only heard bits and pieces of everyone's experience so far.

One of our " topics " for this month will probably be transitioning to the

shoes since the other two families' babies are going to be starting shoes

very soon.

Best, Joanne W.

Joanne,

I was wondering how the support group went? Or did I miss a post

about it? How many people came? When is the next one?
