Guest guest
I am the kind of person who would definitely speak up at meetings like this, but for my sister's sake I shut up...for now!!! After she has her surgery I may not be so compliant. I really feel sorry for all these people hearing this crap who don't know any better. Chrissie ----- Original Message -----From: nancy pugliese WOW Chrissie...you reminded me of an incedent I experienced several months post-op. My neighbor was getting surgery with a different surgeon than mine. She asked me to please go to her support group meeting. The topic was on constipation. The " specialist " that they had speaking that night was giving rather " stupid " suggestions if you ask me....all stuff for " normies " ......I finally piped up (in a room full of HUNDRED'S of people) and asked if it couldn't be cause by us having our intestines re-routed, can't remember exactly what I said as it was a couple of years ago, but I DO remember his answer.....in front of the whole group he laughed at me and said " WHAT???, there is no cutting involved in a gastric bypass, your intestines are still routed the same as mine!!! " and totally humiliated me!! I couldn't believe it........I just stood there stunned.....and not one person in that room dared rebuke this " holier than though so-called best specialist in Pgh!! " I have never g one back to another meeting.........I just use you guys The best specialist I know P.
Guest guest
Wow, you have more self control than I do. I'd have asked him to draw me a picture of what he was talking about, because obviously we would be talking about two different surgeries if what he said was true! The ball would be back in his court....I don't take public humiliation too well...sorry to say. Especially when they are the ones that are making fools of themselves. I think the endocrinologist was happy to see me go...as I questioned her into the ground. Not to challenge her in any way, and I made that perfectly clear, I was there to learn....and I wanted logical explanations as to the whys of everything she said. Guess she's not used to too many really proactive patients. Guess I woulda " why'd " that silly 'doctor' into changing his story...or proving that a bypass was not really a bypass after all...haha!!
