Guest guest
Hiya Leah, I am also from Louisiana. I am in Livingston. I am 11 days post op. Today is the first day that I can do soft solids....eggs, cottage cheese, yogurt, pudding...I have to do this for a week then I can add canned tuna, refried beans, peanut butter, tofu.... hope this helps. Guest guest
I would like to hear from anyone who is about the same days post-op as I am. I'm curious how my diet compares to others. I know I'm not getting enough protein right now. Can't seem to find anything that tastes half way decent. We sent a man to the moon, why can't they make protein pills! Before surgery, I used to drink Diet Rite, (caffine free, sweetened with splenda) about 4-5 times a day. I missed it more than food. Well, I tried some last night and it didn't taste good to me. Go figure! Went down fine, no problems, just tasted too sweet and flat, but it wasn't flat, had lots of fizz. Back to ice tea and water. In the morning I usually have a glass of pineapple juice and later on, some grits with butter & splenda. (yea, I'm from Texas) For lunch, maybe tomato soup, or hot & sour chinese soup. For supper, mashed potatos with fat free, sugar free gravy. Yesterday, for a snack, I had a minature sugar free, low fat, Reeses Peanut Butter Cup and it was soooo good! I've lost 22 lbs so far. Again, I'm just curios how this compares to others. Please share! Thank you! Leah Booth 306/284/135ish Dr. Hargroder Plauqamine, LA
Guest guest
Leah, I'm only 11 days post-op and still on soft foods, a week behind you. But I'll watch the posts and I'm sure it'll help me to see what others say is in store. The 2nd I start more solid foods. Joan C, Calif. Guest guest
Hi Leah, I'm 18 days post op also. I've been on pureed food since I left the hospital. My docs strict orders were 4 to 5 meals a day consisting of 1 ounce of protein, 1 ounce of vegetable, and 1/2 ounce of carb. I have to say I've had some trouble following this. Sometimes I just go for 2 ounces of protein and skip the veggie and carb. I also have trouble getting in 4 to 5 meals. Some days 3 is all I can handle. I have had some issue with feeling hungry. I really try to determine if I'm actually hungry or is it in my head, but it seems to be real. I can't tolerate any milk products right now. They just make me gurgle, burp, and get real uncomfortable. I had read that sometimes after surgery people become lactose intolerant, so this may be the case. I have lost 21 pounds, so we are doing great!!! Isn't this exciting? Yesterday was my first really rotten day. I woke up really bloated and retaining water. Had been very regular but yesterday was really tied up. I finally gave in and took the Milk of Magnesia (ugh, I really have to concentrate to get that down). When all finally moved I lost the three pounds I had " gained " overnight. I was panicking there for a couple of hours. I'm really trying hard to not step on the scale every time I walk by. I may have to put it up somewhere so it's inconvient to weigh except once every few days. I was a big Diet Pepsi fan before the surgery but haven't really wanted any. I'm sticking with water and Crystal Light. Tammy Open RYN 11/12/03 257/236 diet at 18 days post-op > I would like to hear from anyone who is about the same days post-op > as I am.
