Lesson learned

I am 10 weeks postop and up until yesterday I have been very diligent

about getting in my protein, avoiding carbs, etc. Yesterday I went

to my best friend's house and it was a carb fest. At dinner I did

OK, ate mostly protein with just a couple of spoonfuls of mashed

potatoes. But a few hours later I hit the cornbread dressing pretty

hard, and then even later I scarfed down a bunch of flavored

crackers. This morning I got my fat hiney back on the wagon and have

done fine, but the lesson is---the pouch did not stop me from majorly

overeating. I don't dump with high fat foods, and I'm staying away

from the high sugar foods, assuming they will cause me to dump (and I

don't want to know if they won't). But a lot of carbs went down

really easily! I guess if I only have a splurge day every 10 weeks

that's not so bad, but I did learn that the pouch can only help us so

much, and the rest is up to us.

I have found that the less carbs you eat, the less you crave them so

I'm back with this program and I can live with it. Just thought I

would share my experience.
