I have not had any PS as you know I am a big puck, puck puck even though I carry around the equivalent of a large deflated something or other where my lap used to be (grin) Now just don't use this to ridicule yourself or find yourself wanting, no one has all of these, and they are just the signs of aging in most persons. They are the way I taught myself how to draw the difference between a child and an aged person .. . After you have lost all the weight your body wants to lose, your face (and butt) fills out a bit again. However, where the skin is senile (yes, that is the word that is used) the elasticity is shot, and it will not snap back. On the face, as a woman (and OFTEN men too) gathers years, several things occur, the chin tip drops sometimes. Some call this by the extremely palatable name, Witch's chin. Actually, the cartlage and fat of the chin has come a bit unanchored from the chin bone there, and sags a bit. In an older model, this can be depicted by bringing the chin to a slightly egg-haped point. In order to repair, surgeon drills into jawbone and re-anchors fat pad and whatever cartliage back over jawbone again. I know. Ewww, Owie. But from what I hear, all surgery is ewww owie in one way or another. Secondly, people's ears grow larger and longer. Some ears grow larger overall. others, just the lobe grows longer and also loses its " stuffing. There are some surgeons who specialize in shortening the lobe, therefore makeing the ear appear less tall. In classical proportons, to which I incidentally not only do not conform but do not subscribe to either, the lobe of the ear is not supposed to fall below the horizonta line drawn across head at base of nostrils out to earlobes. the forehead skin becomes thinner, loses some of its fat. To draw an old woman's face, there will be an angularity, a squarishness there. To draw a child's brow is like painting the form of a round ball. As the skin loses some of its fat content, the lines and furrows of forehead become more prominent. Some phsycians say the scalp itself , like the nose and ears, grow too, making for redundant skin. The 'cure' for such in ps is a brow lift which by means of tiny vertical slits and temporary screws into skull (eww owie) the skin is trimmed and pulled upward a bit compensating for loss of fat collagen/tissue which once took up the slack the orbits around the eyes hollow out as fat is lost. on an old woman one would draw these as canyon like, on a young person there would only be the merest indication of the skull orbit around the eyes; the orbits would be backfilled like a hole filled up to the top with dirt. Often the muscle under the eyes splits as early as in teenagers, and fat bulges through making for Bags. Ps removes the fat, sutures the muscle and any extra skin and the person looks more youthful because the orbits of the skull are 'filled again' and do not show so much. the temples lose fat as peope age and you may see hollows there, and also behind the ears and also in the neck fat is lost giving the appearance even in people who have been thin all their lives the appearance sometimews of looking " scrawny " meanin not enough fat under the skin to plump it out. The nose lengthens are people age, sometimes losing the sharpness of its tips, if evre there was one to it. WHen the tip of the nose falls below the imaginary line drawn across the bottom of the nostrils, it makes some people look older. Ofen young people have noses that are long in this way giving them to look far older than their years. the buccal cheek pads slip from their positions atop the cheekbones and lose some of their fat, and as a result, people's cheekbones become angular instead of apple-like when they were younger. The hollow under the cheekbone loses its fat also, and the hollow becomes really hollow looking. The 'Tear Trough " loses its fat (this is the line from the corner of the eye to the out edge of the lip or to the naso-labial fold--it is called tear truogh becuase that is the path your tears follow when you cry) and makes an inndentation like a double upside down V on the face. fat is lost from the nasolabial folds that run from outside of nostrils to coners of lips in some people. When the lines run farther than the lips and down to the chin, it give a kind of puppet mouth look to th persno. I know you are ALL running for yourmirrors now) it's okay. everything is alright. If you have any of these all of them can be changed if you wish, depending on what youare willing to do, etc. As usual. About everything in life. Those buccal fat pads that fell down from the cheeks often press the lower cheek pad to fall also, and the looseness of skin at jawline combines to make jowls or dewlaps. To draw an old person you would not liekly put a sharp chin line, but rather a wavrey one. As fat is lost in the face, another three other phenomena that occur. Shadows and dark spots show up onn the face. And these as likely cause the look of being gaunt even more than the loss of fat. For instance, there may now be more blood suplply showing through the semi-transparent skin on the inside corner of each eye at the bridge of the nose, and all around the eye. This is what gives a haggard look, and can be lightened up or sometimes hidden completely with makeup. The other phenom that occurs as fat is lost are lines and wrinkles. The fascia and fat pads under the skin support it, like a shrub of many branches supporting fully and without hollows a sheet thrown over it. start clipping those branches in unqueual lengths and the sheet bgins to sag, Where there is nothing to support it any longer, it falls into lines. The last one is that the texture of the skin changes from small pored and clear and glowing to sort of larger pored particularly on nose (men looking at themselves in bright light may see that their noses have actually grown hairs on the OUTSIDE across the bridge. Some men shave their noses. I know, I know. We;'re not even talking about nose and ear hair. ) and mainly from sun exposure a mottled area of two or three different shades different than the rest of the skin, often on cheeks and forehead. This sort of keratinous (thicker) layer of sun damaged skin appears to douse the glow substantially. If one were to have a, not young, but youthful face, you would not have a dropping nose tip, nor jowls, as these more than wrinkles and dark spots and all the rest are least found amongst the young. All the things I have mentioned can be fixed or improved greatly by three things dermabrasion, microbrasion and peels and laser can even out skin tone, restoring evenness of color and glow (not suposed to be so deep it begins to SHINE). There are some " treatment " helps for large pores, although that is not going to make them fine, but seeming smaller. For the guant look, makeup-------- evening out the dark areas, concealing the ones around the eyes espeecially, putting something soft around your neck, and putting roses in the cheeks, across the bridge of the nose, and the ball of the chin and on forehead temple to temple, (lightly, lightly, no Minnie Does Rouge Town look) mimicking the natural flush of youth would be one way to consider. Also for gaunt look, seeing a doc who does thousands of fat and collagen transplants a year (skilled) and paying attention to tear troughs especially, would be a second somewhat non innvasive procedure. For a guant look not wearing dark colors near the face that drain the face of color, and give the Morticia look would be helpful. Loo for a a red, an orange, a pink or peeach that makes you look healthy WITHOUT makeup, then when you have makeup on, you are stylin' girl! If you have ten or more areas of the face that are sagging really much, including chin wattle, have a ps consult with someone who has MUCH expereince with people whose faces have emptied out from rapid weight loss. As many of you have mentioned over the years, a reg ps might not know how to work with massive amount of skin as well as those who do it as a specialty and on a regular basis. love, ceep, who is thinking if she pulls up everything that is loose and ties it in a ponytail on top of her head, she would look like Carmen Miranda. Kind of. Okay not really. (grin)
