Guest guest
: A friend of mine who also had wls had something similar, except no swollen lymph glands. The pain, the elevated liver enzymes, etc. Turned out she had a common bile duct collapse. When you lose weight quickly, you create a lot of bile that is usually filtered through the gallbladder first, (she had hers out two years before wls). They didn't know what was going on with her for a few days, except that she was in excruciating pain and her blood work was all over the place. They finally figured it out that the entrance into her liver was somehow to small to maintain the flow of bile from the weight loss and it was backing up into her system. They didn't want to perform surgery on her, however, they ended up having to place tubes in her, (similar to drains that most of us have had at one point or another) and had to have them changed every 6 weeks to help dilate the opening into her liver to make it bigger. She went through this for a few months, but thank God it worked and she is right as rain now. They did CAT scans, HIDA scans and an MRCP, which is a specific MRI type test that concentrates on the biliary site. If you're still feeling lousy and in pain, maybe you can suggest this to your physiican. Hope you're feeling better soon. Regina
