Acid Reducer after surgery

I'm on Nexium, 40 mg twice a day at the moment. Usually on it only once

a day. In my case the docs theory is that if they use the acid

suppression medication, then my stomach will stop trying to grow back

together. Apparently, last year they found a tiny little hole where the

transected portions were trying to grow back together. Have had 2-3

scopes since then and the subject hasn't come up again from them, also,

I've forgotten to ask.

That is very interesting. I know that I am transected, so that shouldn't be

an issue. But what happens to the unused stomach? I have read that it

atrophies, I wonder if taking acid suppressive meds would speed that process

up?

No. WE have a mental image of the organs being tacked to a wall. Because

that's what a sketch looks like ot us. But no, they're more like a bowl of

noodles. A place for everything and everything in its place. Where it was,

or where we just paid good money to have it PUT.

The old stomach sits there & does its thing. The mixed blessing is that it

is going thru the motions, but no food. So, it digests & sends stuff down

for absorption, but there's no food in it.

Kinda like my boy kitties here. One likes knitted things (the stories I

could tell!). The other has his " baby " (little stuffed kitty that was his

littermate--mama died). Anyway, they, um, go thru the motions, but having

been neutered, that's all they can do. Their parts don't atrophy, even

though they can't do what they were built for.

Technical, huh? LOL!

HMM, my Doc also told me that it atrophies....still does some of it's work,

just not at the capacity that it should, hence the need for B-12

injections......I swear IF I live to be 200 I will never get this stuff down

pat........... P.
