One of our fellow graduates posted on another group that during a time of high stress she gained 7 lbs (death in the family). Since she had gotten down to her goal weight and had fixer-uper surgery she wasn't about to let this 7 lbs stick. What she did is go on a 3 day liquid fast of Protein Shakes (3 to 5 per day), coffee and water. In the 3 days she lost 6 lbs, her stomach shrank, and she says she feels like her pouch has reset itself to post surgery & healing size. She also did an exercise program called " The Firm " which she is raving about. Others are now adding that they buy the coffee syrup to add to the shakes, as well as 4 strawberries, etc. I thought some of you might be interested. I'm going to give it a try. I do this once a year for 5 days (religous reasons.) Sometimes I only do it for a day or two for " weight " reasons. I do have one recommendation though......only from personal experience. When I did the 5 day fast last year I did 5 protein shakes a day. I had been at 162 for 9 months.....I went down to 157 with the fast.....BUT, when I stopped all hell broke loose. I was STARVING!!!!! I couldn't stop eating.....for weeks!!! I don't think it was necessarily mental and much as physical reasons.......I was seriously hungry........not only did I get back to the 162.....but I went past it and got up to 167......I have never been able to get back down since, and can even sway up as far as 171-2. So, anyway, my suggestion would be to not go any more than 2-3 days with this. I think that would be enough time to get the other desired results (shrinking pouch, carb-withdrawal, hunger relief)....but not set the body into starvation mode. Because even with the shakes this happened to me!!! I can also get these desired results with just ONE day of shakes......not necessarily more than 1-2 pounds, but all the other benefits........HTH, P.
