Guest guest
Thank you for sharing your personal experience. It is encouraging to hear!!! You have done an amazing job and overcome a lot! It amazes me how hard it can be to get a Doctor to pay attention to you. It seems that some Doctors write you off as being fat, and excuses everything because it is something that happens to all obese people. I am glad you finally got someone to listen to you. I am still trying to convince the Doctors I have Ppoly Cystic Ivarian Disease, I have EVERY single symptom for the disease, including bursting cysts that leave me yelling and crying in pain about once a month. My Doc says that since my hormone levels aren't off, then I can't have it. Of course anyone who has read a simple article about this Disease know that it can be hard to diagnose with tests. *sigh* I will stop venting now, sorry about that lol I am going to take advantage of this and get healthier. Anyway, thank you so much Joan. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours! Bethany
Guest guest
Bethany, vent all you need to. It's good to get it out, and as I've seen in a short time, this group can give you good ideas and lots of support. My last 3 doctors have done just what you said, they write you off as being fat. If I complained about anything, they just gave me pills, and more pills. Not a good way to live. The last one never, ever in 6 years addressed my weight, never mentioned it! Wait a minute, being overweight is a serious health problem for many!!! I did the research for this surgery, marched into his office in January and told him that's what I wanted to do. He said o.k., I'll authorize it for you to go to a weight clinic. Never, ever mentioned it again. Geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I'm switching again, but spent a lot of time asking local people about their doctors and their attitudes. When I found one that a friend went through and coincidently he's my husbands doctor, he's the one. I've been told he listens. My current one listens barely and then either gets out a RX pad, or a referral to a specialist. Get me in, get me out quick. With your pain once a month, I'd certainly find someone that would listen and try to give you help. Maybe the internet can help you. Try doing a search of places in your town, or nearby. It's amazing what you find. Or maybe one of the sites can help you with a referral to one. Have a Happy Thanksgiving! Joan C, Calif. LAP RNY 11/18/03 Dr. Higa, Fresno, CA 282/275/261/???
