Guest guest
Well, while I wouldn't consider my face thin and gaunt, I DO know what u mean about the lines. I think I lost all my weight in my face and neck and boobs, lol. Between the " laugh " lines, turkey wattles, and tube sox -- I'm thinkin' I'll keep some plastic surgeon in champagne and caviar for life. Don't know there's much other than p/s u can do about it. When you lose the fat in your face, the lines will show, fact of life. Maybe you could go to a good spa or dermatologist and see if they have any ideas. Sometimes dermabrasion might help. Sometimes just the artful application of makeup does wonders. My solution would definitely NOT be to try and regain any weight; I've worked too hard to lose what I did and still not where I want to be. Also no guarantee the fat would go back into the face. MY luck it would go wherever I still have too much of it. Also fact of life, lol. Carol A
Guest guest
Hi all... at 17 months out, -141 pounds, my face looks thin and gaunt. I'm not at my surgeons goal (I weigh 163 at 5'6.5 " and would like me to weigh 155 for a normal BMI) but people are starting to ask me if I'm sick! I wear a size 10, maybe an 8 after my LBL next week, but wondered what to do about my face looking so bad. Any words of wisdom? I've been upping my calories so as not to lose any more weight since I'm starting to look worse w/ every pound. I lost slowly too and didn't think I'd have this problem, but at 41, maybe it's inevitable? Any words of wisdom? Did this happen to you? What to do w/ these lines?? Thanks,
Guest guest
There could be any number of reasons for this. Have you considered getting blood work done to see if it is some sort of deficiency? I'm thinking that there is a vitaman deficiency that can cause some funky things with the skin. I know, for me anyway, the my skin is no longer oily but normal to dry and so my makeup looks really bad on me (all of it is oil free). I have had to change my cleansers as well. Carol had some good points about seeing a dermatologist or plastic surgeon. I would start with a medical professional. If you can afford it and actually use it, changing makeup. Guest guest
, Got the same problem here. (I'll be 43 in a couple of weeks.) I really don't know the answer, but changing my hair and make-up seemed to help some. I spent my whole adult life mastering the art of wearing my make-up to down play the fat cheeks and round face. After my weight loss I discovered if I wore my make-up the same way, it just made my face look too long and droopy. Also, some foundations can actually emphasize the wrinkles even more. I changed my hair style (made me look perkier), and started applying my make-up differently (mostly the blush), and it made a world of difference. I still think I look too much like on old lady some days, but most days it's okay. Also, I noticed you said you were about 8 lbs from your surgeons goal for a " normal BMI " . Is he taking into consideration any excess skin you may have? I know for me the charts say I should weigh 125, but my surgeon set my goal at 135. I thought that was way too much for me and I wouldn't be happy there, but once I got there I realized he was right. Even he told me not to lose any more because I was starting to look too thin. I figure if I had all this skin removed, it would put me right where the charts say I should be. Don't feel bad about eating more to keep from losing. I did the same thing when I was about 5 lbs. from goal. I finally decided it was just head games I was playing with myself. Try to work thru it and decide where YOU feel most comfortable. Guest guest
When I was about 18 months post-op, I looked about 15 yrs older than I do now. LOL! But 6 months earlier, I looked even MORE gaunt/haggard. It's amazing what time will do in tightening up skin. Thanks, Vitalady, Inc.
