gastric bypass and hernias

I am new to this group. I was just approved by my insurance company

for the open RNY, and to have two

hernias repaired at the same time. From my research, I've read that

quite a number of people get hernias

after the bypass. Was wondering if anyone had hernias repaired at

the same time and how things turned

out, and if they developed additional hernias after their bypass?

Surgery scheduled for 1/16/04. thanks.

Hi Barb, I had a hernia repaired during surgery for GB and now I have a new

one, actually 2 of them. 1 is up by my pouch and does not hurt a bit and the

other is in my groin, right near the crease of my leg and that one can hurt at

times. I think I got that one walking on the treadmill. When I stopped the

treadmill because the hernia was getting bigger it went back down to next to

nothing. They are common but no biggie Good Luck with your surgery and God

i didn't even know i had a hernia. I was told after he fixed at the same

time i had lap RNY. Didn't feel a thing was walking the halls 2 hours after

surgery.
