December 4th is my surgery date. 8 days away. I am so excited, I can

hardly wait for it. Im quite prepared for the pain already. I had a

breast reduction 7 yrs ago and only got plain old tylenol after. I

figure nothing short of childbirth could hurt worse than that now.

Its heartening to hear how well you are recovering. Christmas is

such a busy season and its good to know I wont be laid up in bed

through it all.

I think the only thing Im not prepared for is how different eating

will become. Research and instructions get all the info in your

head, you know how its going to be, but I dont think you can KNOW

until you've gone through it, and everyone is different too. But I

will find out soon enough! 8 days and counting...

Greer, I've had an extremely easy time of it. I never felt a lot of pain.

In the hospital they gave me pain relievers in shot form in the IV every so

often, and at first I had the machine where you punch the button (only used

this for 7 hours). Childbirth (and I had an easy time), and root canals are

worse (which I had the day before the surgery). But everyone is different.

I went into it hoping for the best, and if it wasn't, I'd cross that bridge

when I came to it. At least you know you've got an excellent doctor, and

great hospital. The eating....guess that's individualized too, and depends

on how many weeks out of surgery you are. The liquids are very easy for me

(and no hunger), but tomorrow I start food. I'm going to be in Fresno all

day, so I'm going to take a banana & some applesauce in case I want

something before I get back. Xmas scared me too, I thought I'd be resting

for weeks, so did 90% of my shopping already, and the rest is gift

certificates. Whew!!! Keep posting. Let me know what you think of Dr.

Higa. It took me so long to see him, my first words were " it's wonderful to

finally meet you. " He said, " It's wonderful to be met. "

That is so true Greer!!!! You can't know until you experience it. But it

is not the end of the world and it does get better with time as do most

things.

Good luck with your surgery!!! I will be rooting for ya!!! :o)
