Guest guest
Hi, I'm and new to the group although I've been lurking for a a long while in preparation for my big day. Dec. 9th. Joan,I was excited to hear of someone else who had Dr. Higa. I'm in Merced. Which hospital were you at? I'll be at Clovis Comunity. Were you happy with Dr. Higa? I haven't had my preop yet. I'm wondering If you have to do a colon cleanse prior to surgery or just a liquid diet. Sherri, I just went to my first support group meeting and they had a protein drink tasting. There is a product that tastes wonderful called Nectar and it's fruit flavored and not chalky. You can order samples of the different flavors at wlssuccess.com. 12-9-
Guest guest
Hi , Dec. 9th is coming fast. It'll be here before you know it. Dr. Higa is absolutely amazing. I did a lot of research, and he's the one! The pre-op is a fast visit with him, see his medical assistant, take their " test " , and briefly see Dr. Higa. It was Clovis Community. 2 friends had Dr. Higa and went to St. Agnes and hated the hospital. Clovis Community was wonderful. I'm so impressed. I never had to use a call button, they checked on me often, and were so kind and so helpful. No colon cleanse, just the liquid diet the day before, and nothing after midnight the day of the surgery. Protein drinks weren't recommended to me. It's been a week since surgery and on clear liquids only. I feel fine. I see Dr. Higa tomorrow and will be able to start food. I wrote down the name of the protein supplement in case I need it later. The ones here locally haven't needed them at all, one had surgery 12/9/02, the other 11/6/03. Did hear about one girl that was taking them after 3 months due to hair loss. The weight loss clinic that I had to go to for 6 months prior to contacting Dr. Higa did all the education for me other than the surgical seminar by the surgeon's group. Do you have the gray booklet the surgeon's gave you at the surgical seminar? It explains the diet afterwards and why. Page 15 has the diet restrictions. It's been very helpful. Also a 3-page pamphlet that I have written by Valley Surgical Specialists (I think Clovis Community gave it to me the day I got my lab work) has good information. Good luck on your surgery! If you want to email me directly, it's jclinton@... I'll help all I can, as many helped me along the way and are still helping. It's a lot of new experiences.
