Guest guest
For me, the key to hunger satiety is protein, protein, protein. Depending on your surgery you need 90 to 180 grams of protein from powerder of liquid a day. It's pretty hard to get too much, because we don't absorb all of it. Also, at least for a while until you get off the sugar craving, eat mostly foods with protein. I also find that thick, whole grain bread fills me up better than just about anything. Guest guest
Okay, I am going to make an assumption here in that you are talking about types of gastric bypass surgeries. I, personally, had the gastroplasty and don't need any where near 90 grams of protein a day. I have no malabsorption problems. I actually do best on a minimum of about 50 to 65 grams of protein a day. Can I do more then that? Certainly. Do I NEED more then that? No. Lori Owen - Denton, Texas CHF 4/14/01 479 lbs. Unfortunately, I haven't found anything that works, except eating until I am full. BUT if I do that, I gain. So I stay hungry most of the time. A stretched stoma may be responsible, but I have not been able to convince my surgeon to order an endoscopy, and I'm so tired of fighting the battle, I just haven't had the energy to go find a gastroenterologist and ask for a scope. May be a moot point, anyway, as I've heard any remedy for stretched stoma (if that's the cause) is pretty risky surgery. Carol A
