Guest guest
Hello Everyone. I got home from the hospital yesterday. I guess did OK had problem after surgery with keeping oxygen saturations up so was on oxygen till day i left... I have alot of pain still But I have done well with eatting so far. tolerated the clear liquids no problem had full liquids no problem I tolerated milk fine... TODAY tho. I am a bit scared. I woke up had a little cream of wheat real watery, After breakfest and till NOW i still have feeling like everything is sitting up in my throat. I have not gotten sick and thrown up didnt feel any of the dumping symptoms.... I also had a bout of coughing and sneezing. ( GOD THAT HURT)... And tonight I had tomato soup for dinner was able to eat about 5 ounces. Seems like alot.. In hospital I had no problem sipping 8 ounces of milk over 30 minutes or 4 ounces milk and 3 ounces of cream of wheat in like 45 min... Has anyone else had that feeling like everything sitting right in throat just after there surgery? Is it normal? And there isnt chance i did damage from coughing jag is there?????? What do you use for constipation? Should i use milk of mag or is there anything any of you have used that works real well? Last question to you guys I really want given to strict of a diet. My dr said after 10 days could start with eggs cheese and tuna fish.. Anyone else have any recomendations for foods that i would tolerate ??????? Hope everyone who had there surgery this week is doing well... OPEN RNY 11/17/03 307/297/140's
Guest guest
HI, I hope you get to feeling better. My Dr sent me home on full liquids.. I can have, skim milk, crystal lite, strained soups what I do with that is buy cream soups put in blender add a little chicken broth and puree...I seem to tolorate that pretty good, I was also told I could have yogurt, just make sure its fat free and look at the sugar content, I found one by Dannon that is fat free it has 3 grams of protien and only 8 grams of sugar which is the lowest I have found. But try the yogurt you may do well on that..I was also tols I could have sugar free jello and pudding but I dont do well with the pudding, I have already gotten sick from it...but every one is different. Also try very soupy mash potatoes, mix with chicken broth in stead of milk and you dont have to use salt...it is very good and well tolorable... Hope this helps.... 11/18/03 220/208/
Guest guest
Yes, that feeling in your throat to me felt like there was food stuck and wouldn't go down. Had surgery the 18th, and got a little better each day. After a few days it seemed further down, and today only lightly several times. I was scared the first time it happened, but the nurses said many have that feeling. Joan C, California LAP RNY 11/18/03 282/275/265 now on the losing side. Hello Everyone. Guest guest
There are a couple of very good Sugar Free/Fat Free Yogurts on the market. Blue Bunny is the one I buy. It is sweetened with spenda and tastes very good. Candi Re: now on the losing side. HI, I hope you get to feeling better. My Dr sent me home on full liquids.. Guest guest
, Walmart brand light yogurt will give you 7 gm. of protein and only 8 gm sugar for a 6oz. cup. It is really good. If your skim milk causes you any problems (it might), get you some lactose tolerance tablet to take along with milk products. Works for me. Some people have problems some don't. I am sooo happy for you that you have your surgery behind you. A. B. LAP RNY 3/22/03 Dr. Steve Weinstein, MD.
