Guest guest
Hi Crystal. I always counted my surgery day as day 1 post. I figured that the second I made it out of OR I was most definitely a postie. I remember having that hungry feeling early on. Like my stomach wanted to growl from hunger, but no sound was made and the " growling " feeling didn't go away. I attributed it to the major amount of healing that my insides were having to go though. Remember that this soon after surgery your body is at this very moment working to mend the owie that was created through surgery. Anyway, the feeling passed and eventually I was able to sense that being full feeling. It took a couple of months for me to get sensations back into my pouch/intestine area. The pain in the back of your legs could be from lying so long on the surgery table. Some people have experienced numbness from this also. Just make sure to keep walking and moving. THe walking (even if its just a little bit through the house every half hour) should not only get your muscles feeling better, but will greatly reduce your risk of blood clots. I didn't come home with my drain, but I do remember walking around in the hosp. with it and the pain from pulling that I felt. After my drain was removed I still had pain in that area. It was the only real pain I felt, and it took about 2 weeks for it to completely disappear. Congratulations on a successful surgery, and may your recovery and outcome be just as successful. **Don't dwell on past failures, dream of future successes.** ~~~~~~~~~~~~ Toi ~ Colorado Lap RNY Medial Bypass 12/31/02 -143 lbs St. Mark's Hospital Salt Lake City, UT Dr. Simper
