I had my surgery on 7-15-00, on Medicare, and was admitted with no problems,

to Durham Regional Hospital. The only thing about Medicare is never a

preapproval, and it is only AFTER the surgery that Medicare mayor may not

cover your MGB surgery. As for that matter, you sign paperwork that

specifically states that you will be responsible for the entirety of the bill

if Medicare does NOT cover the surgery. Hope that helps you out in your

inquiry about Medicare. Also, if you have Medicaid also, as a supplemental

to Medicare, it will only cover the other 20% that Medicare will not cover if

you are a N.C. Medicaid Recipient.

does medicare cover any of the costs of surgery?

Medicare covered my surgery. I still had to pay 840.00 dollar deductible for

hospital. And approximately 400.00 came in after surgery for the doctor and

some smaller bills for other tests and doctors during the surgery.

Medicare kicks in when you've been out of work for 2 yrs-- this is the Federal Medicare.

Medicaid is the individual state insurance-- in Calif they call it Medi-Cal. In most other states it's Medicaid. ************************************** See what's free at http://www.aol.com.
