Hi -

we live in Bergen County. I have a son who just turned five with

Syndrome and Apraxia, and eating issues. He also gets ABA and Prompt - where

doyou go for therapy?

[ ] What NJ school is best for Apraxic Daughter ?

We live in NJ and our 3 yr old daughter has severe Verbal Apraxia. No

other issues at play - her receptive language is very good, fine and

gross motor very good, great behavior, great social skills.

She is currently receiving ABA therapy 10 hrs a week (working on

skills:matching, imitation, etc) & Prompt Speech therapy 3x week.

Is public school the best place for our daughter ? If so, is there one

that is better than others ? (We rent and will move anywhere). Are

there private schools we should look at ?

Thank you for any information,

best price .

The College of New Jersey also has free speech therapy if accepted.

We've been thrilled with the public preschool program here in

Lawrenceville (near Princeton), but my son's speech issues were only

moderate. Our opinion might have been different if we needed more

frequency...

Most of the private schools that I am aware of are for kids with

language-based learning problems or autism. Both types would have

services available.

The two schools that I have visited and found to be very good are:

The School of Princeton, in Princeton, NJ www.lewisschool.org

The Banyan School in Fairfield, NJ www.banyanschool.com

They are private schools AND they are very costly!!

Go to their web site, they are very informative.

I am looking into the Banyan school (high school) for my son because

it is much closer to home.

We are now in the middle of due processing so hopefully our school

district will pay for the tuition and transportation.
