Day 9 - I'm doing ok now

On a scale of 1-10 (1 being feeling awful, 10 being feeling 100%

normal) I'm feeling about a 7 right now.

My swelling is about 60% gone and is really the only thing holding

back right now.

My breathing is 100% normal again. No more dry blood in my sinuses

or throat. Very little nose bleeding.

No pain.

Tingling sensations and numbness all over my face. But not in a way

that disturbs me like before.

I'm stuck on a liquid diet for as long as my OS wants. So that

kinda sucks. probably another week or few weeks at least.

My energy level is around 80%. I think my iron and blood count are

back to normal (low hemoglobin for days after the surgery). I think

the only reason for my less that 100% energy is due to the liquid

diet.

Lost about 10lbs. From about 220 down to 210. I'd actually prefer

to not have lost the weight as I'm 6'3 " .

So going forward my obstacles are;

- recommencing physical activities. again it's all up to my OS.

- getting off the liquid diet. up to my OS.

- reducing the swelling to a non-noticeable level. Right now, I'd

say I'm willing to go for walks with my dog and stuff. But I'm

certainly not going to clubs anytime soon looking like this :)

Later,

Marco

Hey Marco!

You've come a long way... that's fantastic to read! Congratulations, and

keep up the good work :-)

I hear you on the liquid diet. It's like I'm constantly hungry, not matter

what I drink (chicken, turkey, beef, whatever). I crave for something

solid. I can remove my bands, once a day, for an hour, but my

muscles haven't regenerated enough to eat anything very consistent.

I had mashed potatoes with ground ham, again for dinner. Pieces

are so tiny that it doesn't feel like it's there in my stomach.

And... I cheated today.. I couldn't resist. The jar was there, on the

table, right in front of me. Not only that I had one, but I took a

second. It was delicious... I had... two olives! :-)

It felt good :-)

Ray

P.S. I never thought I'd see joy in a jar of Olives... ;-)

Marco, How are you speaking? I too want to go out for walks

relatively soon, but afraid of the speaking part. I tend to run into

a lot of people around here. (surgery on Friday)

I don't like olives, BUT....

I discovered real fast that there was no way to eat a candy bar.... but a

chocolate chip morsel fit right in and it dissolves fast for a quick chocolate

fix ;)

I let a piece of Aero melt in my mouth. I thought I remembered it

kind of melted faster before the surgery... A whole bar would last...

60 seconds... Whereas now, a single piece lasted 40 seconds...

It's more economic that way, I know. It just takes a whole lot more

time to fill a craving.. ;-)
