i'm one of those who was afraid NOT to have surgery. being MO was not truly

Mandy, thanks for the explanation. It makes more sense to me now. I ate

really slowly, and the amount seemed fine. I always use Pam. BUT, I

remember I added some cheddar cheese. Maybe the oil in that? Anyway, now

I'm on notice what can happen, I'm going to really watch it carefully. It's

NOT fun! Plus, I doubt I eat scrambled eggs for quite awhile. I notice

you're getting really close to your goal weight! That's great.

Re: Re: Scramble eggs ???

the reason for the dumping is that we no longer have a pyloric valve which

used to regulate the food leaving the stomach for us. Without it .... " we "

.....have to regulate food via eating slow and in small quantities.

I still dump every time I eat too fast or too much. A swift reminder to me

to slow down and keep on track.

Joan... you notice everything.

I am indeed close to my goal weight and you will be too... sooner than you

think. This process is so much fun. Near instant gratification compared to

the years of struggle with no lasting leaps forward.

I have been teetering between 145 and 152 for nearly six months now...

mostly maintaining the weight loss. Am 5'8 " ... 46yrs old ...and really,

quite

happy at this weight, which might be why I've leveled off " here " . But, you

know how this is.. ummmm?..... Everyone of us has those ideal numbers dancing

around inside the brain. Mine is 126... lol. Neurosis?? Or, .... is it a

lofty goal ..... only time will tell.

Need to take my morning walk, 3 miles ....Have a happy Monday Kiddo

Joan, regarding that ankle of yours and the ability to walk.... " never give

up " .

The body has an amazing ability to heal... sometimes over very long spans of

time, but its built to adapt to our needs... eventually

an extraordinary vehicle.

Nearly ten years ago a car accident left me unable to walk at all ...

recovery for me was VERY SLOW.....and it was only five years ago that I was

still

tying rope to my ankles in order to be able to move my legs in bed without

having

to ask hubby.

hang in there ... you'll be walking again in no time.

Mandy, could be for you that around 150 is ideal. Mine goal is 140, but I'm

3 " shorter than you. 3 miles a day is great. I hope to be able to walk

again once my ankle can take it.

Mandy, you really went through a lot. It's incredible what you can do now.

I am persistent, and can go shopping, etc., but when it decides it wants to

start up, I can barely make it to the car, and with tons of pain. If I

anticipate a lot of walking I put my ankle brace on first thing in the a.m.

I definitely know it'll be better as weight comes off. Meanwhile I get a

great workout on the exercise bike which also does my arms.

thats one exercise that I still can't manage, ... the infamous exercise

bike!! The knee caps slip , then the crunch crunch pain. Ughh. How I envy

you

Am sorry for your pain Joan. It should lessen as the weight comes off. A

huge personal catalyst for me .. i.e. getting the weight down which now

enables me to walk with less pain.

will keep you in my prayers for a speedy improvement until your ankle is

again at 100%. Keep me posted.

Joan ....am in a drool on this end. That exercise bike is sounding pretty

good today. Its so cold outside. We're expecting our first snow storm of the

season here and and and ....I dont want to walk, I dont want to walk ... but I

have to bundle up and get out there. Ughhh..

same thing used to happen to my knees. One wrong step and there they went,

click, right out from under me. Felt like a hammer to bone on this end.

Wear the brace as often as you can. Have you thought of using crutches short

term?? I've read that the body is forced to burn 3 extra calories per minute

in addition to your regular burn because of the difficulty level in using

cruches.

Just a thought ...

hope your energy level is comming back. Fluids, protein, exercise ... the

three " have to do's " ... Be extra good to yourself.

Mandy, the exercise bike is wonderful for me. I put in a tape, and get

involved in it, and hardly know I'm exercising....until around 10 minutes

and I start puffing some. I spent the day yesterday shopping and

appointments, and walked a lot, and was fine, then at dinner time just

stepped wrong and there went my ankle. Now that my ankles aren't swelling

so bad, I'm going to start wearing the ankle brace every day, and that

should help a lot.

Thanks for the boost!

Mandy, the exercise bike is wonderful when it's chilly outside. As long as

I use the ankle brace I do very well. It's just that it had been swelling

so much, and was still swollen in the a.m. The doctor told me not to put it

on if it was already swollen. But amazingly my feet and ankles look so tiny

now, no swelling at all. Problem is.....whoever looks at your feet and says

" my your feet have really lost weight! " . But it's coming off everywhere. I

knew I'd start seeing the wrinkles in my face, as they're not plumped out

with fat, but I'd much rather have wrinkles than fat anyway. As all the

people say who don't have face lifts, " it brings character to you " . haha

Mandy, I thought my resolve was all in place with sweets, but it certainly

shows me to be extra vigilant. A 2-hour walk is incredible!!!!! I thought

of it earlier, but as it's snowing here, I stayed in. The mailbox is only

about 600', but I bailed and took the car. I'm feeling really exhausted

and sort of foggy-headed, so once again made an excuse to take it light

today. I think I'll get the stretch bands, and at least get some movement

that way. My blood pressure this afternoon is 87/60 and I think that

feeling tired was one of the symptoms, so I'll go back and read the article

again. I'm trying to get up enough ambition to make my son some chocolate

chip cookies for his birthday. He doesn't get home from work until 9:30,

but wanted to celebrate some. He always opens his birthday stuff on Xmas.

I think it cheats him out of a birthday, but he's too curious to leave it.
