I sometimes break up the monotony by eating pickled okra, pickled

cauliflower, and pepperocinis too :)

Well, it gave me a laugh, so I'm glad it made it's way here. :) Pickles

give me " garlic farts " though, not a pleasant thing. I usually reserve them

for tuna fish sandwiches. The pickles of course, not the farts, those come

along AFTER the tuna fish sandwiches.

Sorry to all, because that wasn't meant for the list. I'll be going to eat

a pickle now. :) Please forgive me.

When those rare occasions that chocolate doesn't work, pickles ALWAYS work

Not that I know of. Just pickles is my way of putting something sour in my

mind to good use. If I eat pickles, the sour " taste " in my brain goes away,

because I have consumed it.

You gotta remember, I'M CRAZY! (want to see my papers?)

Two of my favorite planned munchies are the frozen fruit pieces from

Costco, and veges (cauliflower, green beans, asparagus, brussel

sprouts) in a ziploc bag w. fat free italian dressing.

The candy canes are gone at last!!! Yeah! Unfortunately they have a

second life on my butt...sigh.

Jac, NOT!!!!!! LOL I claimed to be certifiable a LONG time ago. Speaking

of certifiable, I have found a Psychiatrist that not only will help me

with my meds for depression and for anxiety, but used to practice as an

Internal Medicine Doc......so I am hopeful that he will be

trainable....concerning my re-plumbing and meds. Keeping my FINGERS

crossed!

Right after my WLS, in the beginning with the head hunger heck, I didn't crave

sugar. I didn't crave carbs. I craved salty crunchy stuff! So, when I was

still on liquids (shhh...don't tell my surgeon!!!) I sucked the salt off

pretzels!!! Man that was like an addict getting a fix!

A little later on, after getting to the regular food stage, my mom made up home

made pickles with baby cucumbers. And they had hot peppers in the brine. OH MY

GOODNESS!!! They were SO wonderful, and saved my sanity more than once in those

early days.

Still today my cravings lean towards salty/crunchy and rarely sweets. (she said

as she finishes a handful of Munchos...shhhhhh again!)

I guess I am weird, but it looks like I am in GOOD company! =o)

Blessings,

Cindy Lou

Actually, I think it's a great tip. Back in my diet-program-of-the-month

days, one counselor actually had EAT PICKLES as her best tip for coping

with sweet cravings. Of course, the pickles don't actually keep me from

wanting the chocolate, but the fact that my 5 month old grandson thinks

that dill pickle spears are the worlds best teething toys is reason enough

for me to keep a jar of Vlasics in the fridge. I love sitting down with the

little guy and sharing a couple of nice cold dill spears.

Am I the ONLY person to know that Pickles HELP with cravings? I love

dill pickles, especially with cheese! Well.....DUHHHH.... Pickles are

nice and crunchy...gives you something to chew and are slightly salty.

Sheesh. This should have been a NO brainer.

I was just going thru my email....getting ready to delete (there's 3000

items in there) and I just wanted to say I love this bunch. When I get

angry, nobody gets angry back. I can vent and vent and vent, and nobody

sends me flames....And, I'm very happy because next month I am going to

Seattle (a birthday trip from my hubby), and I am going to meet Deb from Gig

Harbor. In person. How good can life be? I'm going to see TWO of my

favorite " sisters " in person....And believe it or not, I met them BOTH on

the internet. Maggie, I've seen before (she hosted me for Christmas when I

was single, several years ago), Deb is the new face in my " family. " I think

I'll eat a pickle in celebration to them both.

I just wonder how I MISSED the pickle thing. NO one has ever told me

about pickles. Would MUCH rather do pickles then chips. I LOVE pickles.

So, I will give them a try. When I absolutely NEED something crunchy,

and slightly salty will nosh on a pickle and see how it goes.

THANKS!
