Guest guest
I had a stricture and it was my experience that you will definitely know something is wrong if you have one. I could barely eat anything that was a nonliquid. If I ate something solid, it would hurt in my pouch every single time. Many times, I would eventually vomit and I usually knew as soon as I ate that I was going to throw up, although usually it took about an hour before I actually did. I had many blockages caused by the stricture and had many EGDs to stretch the opening from my pouch into my intestines. Eventually it had to be repaired (4 long months of suffering first though!) and now that it has been repaired my eating is 100% better - in fact sometimes that I worry that I am able to eat too well. ~ami~ In a message dated 11/19/2003 11:12:26 PM Central Standard Time, sheltielvr2000@... writes: > I had a GB in August and have lost almost 80 pds. Guest guest
I can eat very soft foods pretty well, but anytime I try to eat any kind of meat, it gets stuck. It got to the point where I so nauseated all the time I could hardly eat anything...I am going tomorrow to talk to the doc about a stricture... I have been so careful not to eat anything I shouldn't, and still I am throwing up most of the protein...the only thing that saved me was a few teaspoons of peanut butter here and there... > I had a stricture and it was my experience that you will definitely know > something is wrong if you have one. Guest guest
I also have numbness in my left thigh. My doctor said it could be anything from a skin crease to how my leg was positioned during surgery (before surgery, my leg would fall asleep if I laid on it too long). It's my understanding that it may not ever change. It doesn't bother me as much now as it did when I first noticed it in the hospital. I guess I've gotten used to it. Open RNY 10/13/03 303/270/??? also, the skin on my legs feels numb..very strange sensation...if > anyone can help me out there I would greatly appreciate some > encouragement! Guest guest
How bad is the pain when you have a stricture? I am wondering because I always have a certain amount of discomfort every time I eat anything solid no matter how small the amount I eat. I would say it is more like a small tummy ache than anything else and it usually lasts 30-60 minutes. But liquids don't cause this problem. I am going to talk to my doc about it when I see him again but that is not till close to the end of December. I am not real concerned about it but when you talked about the stricture it sounded kinda like what I am experiencing. But I would not call it pain. More like mild discomfort.
